It's been shown over and over again to cause inflammation and various strange problems in many people. Before going vegan, my girlfriend struggled with facial swelling. It all went away after she stopped eating animal products.

That's a good probability. I'll switch from whey to pea protein, because that's my main source of dairy. Otherwise just a bit of parmesan cheese here and there.
