Stuck in the investing niche

Hey there. I hope my post is right in this sub-category.

I started investing in the stock market many years ago. It was always kind of a passion for me. 2011 or something i started a personal finance blog with medium success. I wrote about saving, investing and so on. I stopped writing quite some time ago and switched to YouTube. I started a channel about stock investing (niching down...) also with a little success. I got about 2k subs but i stopped making videos a few times just to come back a few month later to stop again. Why am i doing this?

I feel trapped in this niche. The financial niche is one of the best niches to make a lot of money. But i always wanted to "teach" how to invest. I dont want to be the "leader" (taking the responsibility) who says: "buy this stock or buy that stock". This videos are very sucessful on other youtube channels even though they are 95% BS. I notice that my explanation videos dont get much traction. When i get a little bit broader i get way more views. I feel like the market for people that really want to learn investing is extremly small. Most of them are looking for a shortcut or hust someone to copy. So with this mindset i only see affiliate-marketing for (good) brokerage companies or maybe courses as business model. But as i said. I feel the market is pretty crowded and i dont have a chance to make enough money (even though my channel is not in english).

Is that real or a mindset-problem?

I think about pivoting if not starting over completly.

What language? How many know this language? Of the people who know it, how many prefer instead to consume content in English or another language? Is this a personal brand with your name attached and connected to other social medias/services, or just an abstract channel?

For YouTube, the investing/finance/economy niche is great from what I understand. It is possible your viewership's location has a low CPM though. Tell me though, how you expect to grow the channel without putting in the consistency and high quality that big and profitable channels do? If also, you focus on theory, instead of capturing attention by talking about current topics in the niche, how will you win their attention?

How many hours do you put into a video? How long are your videos? Do you use stock photos, slides, other people's content, your face, custom animations, or what do you show? What's the audio like?

People who view 10 minute videos are looking for shortcut. Unless you are making hour-long educational videos/courses, your job is to provide them the shortcut, or at least stimulate/entertain/teach them enough so that they perceive the affiliate offers you show them as shortcuts. If they wanted to learn the hard way, they'd probably read a book, ask people they know in real life, do research on stocks and investing concepts online etc.

Thank you for your long answer!
Language is german, so their are +100m native speakers. The brand has a generic name but is centered around me. There is a blog, a mailing list, twitter account and the youtube channel. But i dont really produce content right now because of the lack of a vision. I have no real business model around it other than som affiliatelinks.

CPM in my location is good. For my channel it is ~35 USD right now. But there are a few good ranked videos that get all the views right now because there is no new content. But realistically it is still in the 10 to 20 USD range for average content.

One video takes about 3 to 5 hours to produce. They are pretty simple 10 to 15 minute talking heads videos focused on one subject/keyword. Sound is okay i guess.

My post is not so much about the channel itself. It is more about the business model around it. I know that if i would produce consistent content one or two times a week my channel will grow. But i am lacking the vision.

The issue may be very simple here, are you credible enough to take investing advice from? There are people who've made millions investing, sharing the same type of content. They have a track record, so people listen read, and listen to their insights. If it's just "a kind of passion" for you, then you're simply not someone from who people want to take financial advice.
You wrote: I feel like the market for people that really want to learn investing is extremely small.
And that's probably the truth, people want to make money as much, as soon, as easy as possible, they don't want to do the boring learning.

I have watched some videos on your YT channel and they look quite professional. German is definitely a great language and on TikTok I would definitely recommend you to speak the language of the country you are currently located in. The market for your videos is definitely small though since the theory on finance is rather boring. I think that it is more promising to follow the current trends.

Since you think that the majority is saying BS, have you considered creating reactional content?
Have you considered shifting the pitch of your voice to make the videos more exciting?
Also, what do you think about creating shorter videos using YouTube Shorts? This can definitely create some additional traction.

Absolutely something to take into consideration. But when i watch the competition there are a lot of people with only 2 or 3 years experience in the markets. Of course i am not Warren Buffett but i am sure i am more credible thant most of the YouTubers. (And the really big guys made their money with YT not with stocks).

Thank you very much for your comment!

You are absolutely right. It is more promising to make more "mainstream"-content. One type of video you see there every month is like: "x stocks i will buy in november". I will not post these videos because it is against my values. It is just fishing for people hoping to get the super secret stock tip that makes them rich.

Reactional content and also the voice tip is great. Maybe i should make reaction videos about the stock tips of the other creators and the return their tips brought... :D

I still think about adjusting the target audience into a more entrepreneurial audience.
