Hi everyone,
I'm feeling a bit uncertain about the direction of my web development business and would love to hear your thoughts.
Here's some background:
I started by creating a simple one-page site for a friend’s tire repair business. Then I landed a client with a small cleaning company who wanted to dominate the local search results. For her, I heavily optimized the site for SEO, set up a Google business profile, added blog content, and linked everything together. After a month, her Google profile ranked #1, and her site was in the top 5. She was thrilled with the results.
Now, I’m wrapping up a more complex project—a multi-page site for my father’s crane business. This site has several sections, a blog, and detailed case studies, which none of his competitors currently offer. My father’s business has struggled online, with smaller competitors often getting jobs first, only to subcontract him for his equipment. I’m optimistic that my efforts, coupled with Google Ads, can boost his visibility and client base significantly.
I hope to use this momentum to attract bigger clients, particularly from the construction sector. My idea is to offer two models:
My next steps:
Thanks in advance!

I hope to use this momentum to attract bigger clients, particularly from the construction sector. My idea is to offer two models:
- A classic package – a one-time fee for the site plus optional marketing support.
- A subscription model – a monthly fee for a comprehensive 3-year service.
- Technology: Most agencies use WordPress, which can be slow and bloated. I focus on building fast, SEO-optimized static sites in Next.js for better performance, security, and customization.
- Target audience: I aim for mid-to-large businesses with bigger budgets, as smaller clients may not value these advantages.
- I don’t yet have a designer, so my animations and designs are simple, emphasizing clarity and lead generation.
- Competing with students and freelancers on Facebook who charge peanuts for WordPress sites, as well as agencies charging premium rates for similar work.
My next steps:
- Launch my father’s site and monitor the impact on his client base.
- Improve my own site and build compelling case studies.
- Start experimenting with ads.
Thanks in advance!
