Bill Gates wants to "dim the sun".

The idea is to spread chemicals in the atmosphere so that the reflections of the sun are derived, or something like that.

Can someone tell the guy he doesnt own the planet?
Global warming is a problem, and he's trying to solve it. We should be thankful instead, we don't have another planet.

As someone who lives on this planet and never voted for Bill Gates, I say nay.

Will crops grow in the dim light? LOL, we just keep coming back to his genocidal tendencies.

 Yeah, spraying chemicals on the air, what could possibly go wrong?

If Gates is the villain, Musk is the Marvel hero designing suits and ships that will take us to Mars. Who says we only have one planet?

Yeah, at least he’s trying, he’s giving possible solutions, he’s collaborating with scientists.
What are we doing here against global warming?

Oh, I thought you were making a joke, but you're serious. Ok then.

If you're asking me personally, I've cut my carbon footprint. We use 60% less electricity in my home since I bought it 7 years ago. I've explored solar but believe it is worse than simply using so little electricity, in my case. I've cut my miles driven by a factor 9 (thank you quarantine), I will be buying a hybrid/electric vehicle in the next year, my family creates less than 3 bags of trash per month, I 'm trying to get it to less than 2, I've stopped watering my lawn in the desert, I'm planting more trees on my property to help keep things cool, capture more carbon, plus I just love trees, and I make purchases with an eye towards sustainable packaging.

But if the earth is so important to you, I invite you to join me in mockery of the guy looking to pollute the atmosphere as a "solution". Don't give me the "scientists" line. That's garbage. Scientists developed the tools that led to this problem in the first place, so I don't really care if he's partnering with sceintists who call this a solution. Scientists are fallible. Go back and read some studies from the 80's when they looked at similar "solutions" in response to the hole in the ozone layer. We tackled that with less chemicals, not more. Learn the lessons of DDT and CFC's. This is the proverbial bell than can't be unrung.

yes we understand you took 2 hours out of your day to come here, but we cannot accept your legal tender.
Just thinking - its called "legal tender" for a reason and actually if you don't accept it might be illegal to do so.
I don't know if "sue everyone gullible" is Canadian a thing but in States it would be asking for troubles.

Under one condition i would agree - dimming the sun has to have Reset and Power Off buttons.

"In leiu of gifts, please donate to the honeymoon fund?"
Just thought that i would be a good idea - then i google showed this Honeyfund — The Free Honeymoon Registry :O

"If AI is communist, the blockchain is libertarian". - Peter Thiel

I’m actually thankful we are no where near making the AI that people are hyping a reality. They say they are, but they don’t know what they are talking about. With how un-enlightened people are. No thanks.

Well for starters, not making it spectacularly worse by attempting to block out the Sun or anything like that - without the consent of the billions of people who live here.

This is when you realize the power of blockchain. It's saving us from lunatics like him.

"If AI is communist, the blockchain is libertarian". - Peter Thiel
Peter Theil recently came out saying that Bitcoin is (“may be” in his exact words) a financial attack by China on the United States financial system.

If you study the companies that make the hardware as well as the net effects of USD being traded for BTC, he might be onto something.

But that doesn’t mean blockchain technology is bad - just that current uses might be bad...

I'm no expert, but wouldn't abolishing gas cars, planes and whatnot improve the global warming thing?

In a perfect world everything would be electric right?

First of all, it’s “banning,” not “abolishing.” We aren’t talking about ending forced use of gas cars - we are talking about forcefully controlling the cars you can use.

Secondly, the key is innovation, not government policy.

Government can demand that every citizen switch to flying cars tomorrow if they want to.

But the result would be that everyone ends up walking or breaking the law because:
1. Good flying cars don’t exist
2. Flying cars that work are too expensive for most people
3. Changing that rapidly is clunky and makes no sense

And there you have my summary of the Feds trying to “curb global warming”

No. He said that while he is bullish on btc and that btc is a genuinelly good idea, China is propelling BTC and try to get btc to replace the USD as a global reserve currency.

They might be succeeding. The USD is now making up for 59% of global currency reserves, its lowest level since 19xx.

No, he really did say this and I think he's onto something:

Oh, I guess I was focused on how first you said "No."
Yes, cuz you said "Bitcoin is a financial attack by China on the United States financial system." but the reality is that bitcoin is used by china as a tool to decreased the power of the USD, not the financial system.

Sorry i am a pain in the a$$ but i like specificity

But I didn't say that, I said that Peter Thiel said that...which he did...

I mean he said it "may be" not "is a financial attack" but point stands that yeah that's what he said. It's in the article. It's his quote, in the headline.

Your “specificity” is wrong

Knowing what I know of Peter Thiel, I’m surprised he doesn’t own billions of BTC.

I do know his fund invested heavily back at the 2017 peak and got hammered. Maybe he’s bitter.

So I skipped my usual meat meal and had a small sub with veggies on it, went to the store and thought I'd pickup some noodles for a snack... *contains dairy* didn't buy those.. yikes, picked up almonds and a ginger ale and some gummies... which contains dairy aswell :blank:

Tough journey, there has gotta be someone out there (maybe I'm talking to you!) to fill the gap in the market to make it easier for an idiot like me to switch over to vegan stuff... Later tn I'll see if I can pull off some magic tricks and make some stuff at home after I go grocery shopping, although again one of my favorites meals (rice) contains dairy in it aswell..

Oh boy! Someone go make it easier for me and maybe you can make a few billion bucks.

Just a random story I had a flashback of. I was on vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico a few days ago. I was in the bathroom at the Cabos mall. You know the one by the Pier. I was washing my hands and noticed someone left a wallet and a pair of sunglasses on the counter. I look around to see if anybody was still in the bathroom and even called out. No one was inside so I figured this was my chance to do a good deed and track the owner down.

I went outside to where my girlfriend was waiting for me and even asked a few people outside if they lost something. Then I see someone look like they were looking for something. They even stuck their head back into the bathroom.

I figured, oh this must be the guy, he looks like he is frantically looking for something. I wave at him and he comes barging towards me like he’s gonna kick my butt. LOL

I ask him if he lost something and he just snatches the items off my hands. Didn’t say a word and didn’t even say thank you.

He’s lucky I found his items and not someone else.

I guess it’s like the saying “no good deed goes unpunished.”
