A friend and I were having a conversation over the phone, and we came across an interesting topic I thought I'd share.
Imagine I was part of a group of people tasked to create a government, and a system that protects people and keeps things civilized.
I create the bank, the school system, the government, healthcare, etc.
Now let's say this system I designed gets implemented, it works really well, etc.
but it isn't perfect. it's worked far better than anything done before, but it isn't a perfect system.
the majority of the people within the system feel like they've turned into slaves. Stuck in work and living unfulfilling lives. some others notice this, and they try to make changes and reform for things to be better.
HOWEVER... the way things are now, they benefit me. Not everyone works for me, but most working-class people help me build MY companies, they pay taxes to ME, they use money that is issued from ME. Would I really want to change the way things are going? and a further question what if I wanted things to stay this way? what if I told people that everything is fine, and if they work hard enough they can earn enough money to do whatever they want, there are great ways to do it, but it's likely that if they try to do it the normal way, they won't get very far. That doesn't apply to me, I can just print the money for myself if I wanted to, loan it to them and do whatever with the interest they pay me. And it's not like I'm going to sit them down at school and teach them XYZ is how you generate a meaningful amount of money, then they wouldn't work for me.
I don't believe in elite secret societies and all that nonsense, i'm trying to keep politics out of this entirely, and not trying to sound like a conspiracy theorist either. But Can you see why the SCRIPTED environment works so well, regardless of whether or not it's done on purpose? looking at it from one side, it's a terrible place to be in, but looking from it top-down, it's just too good to change it. it has it's pros and cons but why did it end up this way? what would you do to improve it?
