...in other words, alternative technology platforms that do not censors political views, wrong-think, and language that is potentially offensive.

I suggested this a few years ago, but it has recently reached a tipping point.

There's a large market out there who is DESPERATELY seeking alternatives to the technocrats who use their political righteousness to censor dissenting voices.

I still think a Twitter alternative is viable, not a big fan of Gab.

Likewise, Minds.com with their crypto angle is starting to gain traction. I just created an account there to see how it works and to see if there are any advertising angles. (The best advertising values usually come from grassroots upstarts, more so than legacy properties who are saturated with advertisers, hence bidding up costs.)

On the search engine front, I already use DuckDuckgo.

Also note that a lot of these places are like the "wild wild west" so it might take some time to adjust your settings and "mute" content that is offensive. In other words, you get to chose what is offensive, not some technocrat in San Francisco.

If I was young and just getting started, this is an angle that I'd be looking at.

It would not be easy, but the market IS THERE.

I couldn't agree more. Personally I have not had cable since 2003, primarily because the product sucked and didn't like the political left leaning spin.

Now that youtube is officially state ran, Im looking for an alternative. I think this space has lots of room for growth. Very interesting.

@MJ DeMarco I wanted to reignite this conversation. Seems like we have reached the real tipping point. What does everyone think is going to happen next?

Its interesting, I had a converstation with someone via Discord about this.

I think one opportunity, (it may not be truely Alt-Tech), is the splintering and creation of new online communities. In my Discord rant, I mentioned how there is no really good place to have a raw, free converstation about ADHD. Most ADHD communities and resources fall into the following buckets:
  1. They aren't run or written by those with ADHD, so they have no true understanding of it.
  2. They are targeted towards those that have just been diagnosed.
  3. They are targeted towards those that are at the lower level of acceptance/working with their ADHD (aka the posts about OMG look at this meme that is like me!). Memes are fun and all but these have no value (yes, memes can have value).
  4. They are censored to outside thought due to the over-inclusion of trigger warnings, or mods that have a SJW slant. Thats ok if you want the same thought, but counterproductive to a healthy discussion.
  5. To the point above, mob mentality runs rampant and shuts down entrepreneurs and opposing thought.
So to this point, I can see specialized communities of free thought (my example of targeting those with ADHD thinking like me) beginning to spread.

However, there is a fine line between free thought and the promotion of racism, violence and other forms of discrimination. We shall see where it goes.

Now you got me thinking about this idea, I should see if there is any value I can provide with it.

Hey guys, I think you're right in the fact that Alt Tech can be a good opportunity for a beginner entrepreneur. But I also believe that most of you, including MJ, are missing on a bigger opportunity I plan to capitalize on that problem

I think the problem with these new Alt techs is that they are looking at social media as it was a place to interact with other people, but that's not the case anymore, social media is now an entertainment platform.

I think that except for Facebook, most social media now is driven by content creators rather than the people that consume the content. And beyond the problem of censorship, which most people on social media don't care, and agree, I think the bigger problem is how can these content creators make a sustainable income from their work, most of these guys are self employee slow lane that just wants to enjoy the fruits of their work, but they can't

Take for instance youtube, I like to watch analysis about music and movies, stuff like breaking down the symphony of a film to figure out how it helps to tell the story, or how Richard Wagner has defined how heroes sound for over 140 years.

And all content creators I follow have the same, huge, problem, overnight they can lose all the revenue from their work just by a single unfair copyright claim. It just takes a company to claim that they own the rights to the material in the video and all the revenue goes to them, even if these content creators meet of all youtube good practice, like only using 6 seconds of copyright material or what have you.

And these creators are not infringing copyright, they should be protected under fair use since their material does not infringe youtube rules, but thanks to youtube automated copy claim system, big companies can abuse it and it takes weeks for someone to review the case one more often than not the creator losses

In fact, for the most part, they are fans of the original materials and always endorse their fan to acquire it.

So, my vision is to create a site in which monetization does not depend on ad revenue, instead, it's based on interactions, so it can guarantee a content creator revenue for as long as they are on the platform.

And I have seen a ton of creators wishing that the next youtube comes by and end that tyranny where mega-corporations keep preying on the weak, people with millions of view per video draining their frustration on how unfair youtube has become to them, the people that made the site what it is now is been used to feed the greed of the big corporations.

And these creators, they want to live out of their work, but can't because what they make out of youtube is so little that is not enough to make it until the end of the week and to add salt to injure they can lose those cents in a single night without a chance of getting them back

And is particularly bad for content creators that live in developing countries, regardless of view they don't make enough and lose their monetization every time.

So, this is my goal, help content creators to make a proper revenue from their work, without having to worry about copyright abuse.

Also, I know there is already DTube, but their monetization only lasts 7 days, and is not liable for content creators since most of them won't be able to see their videos be really profitable.

I have a lot of work to do ahead of me, and I probably going to need a lot of people

Twitter's recent banning of conservative users seems to be causing a lot of them to create backup accounts on Parler.com, which has less speech restrictions. If it wasn't so close to the election, I think Trump could have posted there exclusively, and driven a lot of people there. I remember when people left MySpace because it was a "ghetto" and went to FaceBook because it was "elite". Something similar might be about to happen with Twitter and Parler.

There should be some fallout from the Project Veritas expose on Facebook employees talking about censoring conservative posts. Maybe a similar move, or government intervention of some type.

Seems like things are changing.
