Hi all, this is my first post on the forum.

I am passionate about investing in the stock market and decided to start a business around this. A couple months ago I started a youtube channel making videos about investing (how to find undervalued companies, how to value stocks etc.). I have had moderate success and now have a following of 4,000 (and growing) highly engaged subscribers. I have now begun to think about how to monetize my following. So far all I have been doing is promoting an affiliate link that allows you to sign up for a broker and get 2 free stocks, but I know there is more potential with the traffic I am getting. I am stuck trying to think of ways to monetize this audience. Should I:

Create a free ebook to collect emails for future use?
Make a course?
find better affiliate programs to promote?

Or should I not even be thinking about this yet and just focus on growing my audience as large as possible first? I'm not sure if it will be a turn off to my audience if I start promoting a course when I am a relatively new channel. Any feedback is appreciated

Create a free ebook to collect emails for future use?
Make a course?
find better affiliate programs to promote?
Continue to grow your audience with engaging & useful free content

I'd think about funnelling them to a website though because you've got no control over YouTube
By all means use YT to garner a wider audience but with the aim to draw them to your website
Once you've got multiple videos it's going to be a nightmare replying to comments all over the place on YT, on your website it's much easier

You can get contact details by offering exclusive newsletters, videos, courses etc, then you could offer paid versions of the same, it's an old strategy

Eventually you can have a paid area of your website like 'INSIDERS' here

Essentially if you're a relative unknown you have to offer something of value for free before you ask for subscriptions

As for the affiliate links, what's in it for you?
It might be better to negotiate a deal directly with whoever you send them to once you have a sizable audience
You can also get ad revenue on your site, click-through revenue...

Build your audience, gain their trust, offer them unique value and the revenue opportunities will follow

Is it against the rules to ask what the channel is? I run an investing podcast and this may be something I could work with you on.

Got it thanks for the feedback. I think your are right the most important thing is to set up my own website to move my followers over there since it gives me more control over what I want to do

I have been making online content as well recently, though not youtube.

Common Monetization Method
1) Advertisement (Third party)
2) Membership (Like a INSIDERS subscription model)
3) Use your content as a lead generation tool to sell your own product/service

Youtube ad revenue is quite a good target to aim for in the long term. Since you are discussing financial matters CPM should be good.

Key thing us know youtube rules and “algo” inside out. Youtube does not reveal how the algo works but so many people put up so many videos about their own Experience.

To make money from youtube adv revenue you must make youtube recommend you.
1) Insert Advs when you are eligible. The algo prefers your video with ads because they make money too
2) Update frequently, even if at cost of your Content quality to a small extent. The algo favours creator who update frequently.
3) News driven over evergreen on topic. Thats how the algo works. Talking about how Tesla stock is a better choice over a generic stock picking Content.
