Jackson was born on Monday, February 9th, at 7:35 AM. He was 8 pounds, five ounces and 21.5 inches long. It happened just like they said it would: I met him and fell in love. My priorities changed and my mind is in a totally new place. The Lamborghini Reventón will have to wait. I need a safe AWD wagon (Audi, BMW, Volvo?). Thanks for your interest and support, fastlaners.

Congratulation!

I recommend Toyota Sequoia. It saved my life. I totaled my Sequoia in Texas. I hit a cow on highway.

Or go with BMW x5.

Congratulations! Being a father truly does change your priorities. I'm the proud father of 2. A 10 month old girl and a 2 1/2 old boy.

Oh my goodness! Welcome Jackson. What a cutie. (sorry I missed this thread when you first posted.)

Amazing huh? There are just no words to describe this experience.

Congrats, Skyler.

You didn't name him Lucky? (I'm sorry, couldn't resist) ;)

I have an Excursion. Got it for the same reason:physics

(it weighs over 7000 lbs. Ever see a large steel ball hit a tiny steel ball?)

Treasure these first few months. Live in the moment, every second of every day. You will think about them often, for the rest of your life.

Hint: When you need to catch up on sleep, sleep whenever the baby does (it helps, a lot).

Many congratulations to you. My wife and I have 6 kids (4 girls, 2 boys). The oldest is 16 and youngest is 8. You definitely notice a changing of priorities.

I drive very differently with family in the car than when I am by myself. The difference is less obvious now that I and they are older. We have a 9 passenger Suburban which is used for kid transport. The luggage space is great.

You will now notice that it takes 3 times as long to do anything since you have to pack for even the simplest event. I remember with our first when she was a few weeks old. We went to Chi-Chi's for dinner--a nice night out for new parents but brought her with. She slept in the car seat until the very end and got hungry. So, I end up sitting in the booth for 45 minutes while my wife was breast-feeding in the ladies room. Fun memories.

You will enjoy making your own memories. Our best to you and yours.

You were lucky! Seems like my babies always woke up hungry just as food was being served.

I noticed this in myself too, but the behavior extend to when I drive without him too. No need to make little orphans. I updated my will and life insurance too.

You get very skilled at typing w/ one hand while feeding w/ the other. LOL. Pretty much impossible to be a WAHM unless you are a multi-tasker.

Congrats. My son is 5 and he makes me laugh sooo hard that my face hurts. Keep one important thing in mind. When you are changing your son point the gun down before you close up.

haha, out of all the advice here, I can't resist choosing this one to quote. I'll never forget the first time my son had an 'accident' while I changed him. It was only the first or second time I ever changed a baby. My mother was there, she couldn't stop laughing at my reaction. I was pretty surprised.

Other than that, ATW said it best in an earlier post: there is just no way to describe the feeling you get once the newborn is in your life. It's empowering.

LOL

And... you've got to let the diaper hover for for a minute before you get to work.
Something about the air . . . makes them go every time.

Congratulations on your baby!!

I have no advice; first time mom. I've lost all mental ability. My husband asked me a simple math question, what is 7+3 and I said 11. So I am definately am not going to be doing anything that requires much skill/thought for the next few weeks!

VERY true - so watch yourself!!!

Congratulations Skyler!

And now that you're a new dad, I'd recommend checking out Legacy Dad's website when you get a free minute, if you haven't already - lots of good info on there.
