I will AMEX comes up with their own blockchain and the speculative bubble bursts when people realize the only thing you can use Bitcoin for is buying darknet ecstasy and a Furry costume in Second Life. And then everyone tries to dump it but they can't because you can basically only sell it on craigslist.

You're wrong in so many ways.

Is anyone else just very interested about the whole "my neighbors like to blow things up" angle here? What are they running a real life Fortnite experiences camp for kids?

Honestly if I went outside and saw my neighbors wheeling a cannon along the road or something I'd actually be impressed.

Lol "local eccentricities"

The lake behind my parents house is a mile in length and a few feet wide. It's also the neighbors backyard. This one time they were blowing some really powerful explosives we never heard before. Whatever it was some of the debris landed on our house and it shook the house. Which is very far away from the lake. A few minutes later a Careflite helicopter landed on their property. I guess someone got hurt. Later we found that an explosive landed in the middle of the herd of cows too. It killed a few.

I can already imagine the Airbnb reviews.:rofl::rofl:

Lolz, I can't imagine living next to such colourful folk! They sound mad, plenty of fun but dangerous!

By the way, I meant per property when I said $700-$1000 per week. How many cabins could you put on there.

I'm serious about the mad neighbours by the way, maybe you could cut them in on a deal and get them to run fishing (with dynamite!) excursions or some other extra thing you could offer guests.

Amex cannot come up with it's own blockchain, as the very nature of a blockchain requires it to be widely distributed and decentralised.

People need darknet ecstasy... and 2nd Life has its own currency.

Keep up man!

I can probadly do 8 cabins. But I think tent camping might workout too.

I don't know about letting the guest handle explosives. What if they get hurt won't they try to sue me? Unless I made them sign an agreement beforehand. Also the same neighbors have a spot in the middle of the lake where they camp out for duck hunting. Around spring the entire lake fills up with ducks. They have the bird dogs and everything.

Lol. Those neighbors from across the lake are seriously something else. There's a lot of weird things that happen on their property.

This one time my dad woke up because he heard some explosions. He opened the backdoor and saw three glowing lights over the forest in our neighbors property. The three glowing lights were hovering but than one of the lights detached itself from the rest and started roaming around under the trees.

Next thing you know there was gunfire coming from everywhere inside the forest. Also some heavy artillery shells exploding. As the sun rose he saw some men running along the shoreline in my neighbors property dressed in military uniform.

I can't think why my dad would lie about something like that. My mom also saw it. I guess we'll never know what was going on that day.

Do to circumstances I will be moving back to living at home with my parents. I moved out from my parents because I got tired of living in the middle of nowhere. Also because I needed the internet to learn about web design, freelancing, SEO etc. This past years that I have lived in the city have taught me so much. I have a better idea on what to focus on and finally take action. Also internet services have greatly improved with the introduction of 5G. There's now unlimited internet available where I live.

My parents have a small 7 acre farm next to a small lake. That means I have access to land and water. Two of the most important things needed to survive.

With water and land I can either:

Raise Cattle, horses, pigs, goats, chickens, dogs, bees, mushrooms etc. Basically any animal. What animal is the most profitable?

I can also grow any crop but the weather in North Texas is very extreme. During winter one moment you're freezing and next thing you know you're sweating. So crops are out of the question. Also me and my family tried growing herbs before and that didn't work out.

I'm also trying to think outside of the box. When people think of a ranch they think about agriculture. But what if I turn it into a camping area, retreat, or special events center?

If anyone has any experience on the most profitable way to monetize farmland your input will be appreciated. Thank you.
I know that you have written off crops, but I will throw one out that maybe you have not considered. I was talking to a friend just a few weeks ago who owns farmland in the panhandle, and he said they're converting all of their substantial acreage to hemp when the licenses become available next year. Apparently the $$$ yield per acre is huge.

Are you staying in N. Texas? Obviously the climate and growing conditions may be a little different than in the Panhandle of Texas, and not sure what hemp would need in that regard, but thought I would throw it out there.

For what it's worth, this guy is from the panhandle and grew up there, but lives in Dallas and runs money for a large family office, so he is pretty financially sophisticated. It struck me that he was going all in with hemp on his family's land back home.

Another thought is to give Small tech outfits a place to test systems "off-grid" this includes everything from drones, farm equipment, vehicle testing, and anything else you can imagine. I personally have a hard time finding areas to test equipment.

Have you looked into storage? RV, Boats, PODS, etc?

a 5 second google search would have found HipCamp, which bills itself as the AirBNB for camping.

Jason Calacanis interviewed the founder on his podcast, and is definitely worth a listen if you’re considering it.

Most definitely the easiest and cheapest way to monetise your land, which might give you some cashflow to invest back into the site for chalets etc if you so desire.

If your neighbours are doing weird / cool stuff...

Put up some cabins. You run hospitality / relaxation, they do "day trips", excursion, duck hunting, all the random crazy shit they do.

Except they get paid for it.

You do lead gen and hospitality, they do experiences.

You might want to look into Community-Supported-Agriculture

There's a well known CSA in germany, called Kartoffelkombinat (who's name originates in the socialist economic and agricultural situation before the wall came down in 1989) that serves above 1.000 people per month with fresh vegetables. Each of them is paying around 30 eur per month (if i remember correctly).
Collectively they are securing the operation itself and share the results (vegetables).

The Kartoffelkombinat is also working on sharing their concept with the world in great detail so it can be replicated (open source agriculure).

It's kind of a neat thing. Yet won't provide a fastlane opportunity and is more of a job, optimized for the well-beeing of the community. But that might make one happy aswell :)

oh these bunnies most definitely HOP!

So my other friend, who lives in Northern California, may be inheriting a piece of rural land that belonged to his wife's uncle. The property has several ponds and streams.
My friend has an idea to open up this space for boy scout troops to rent out for a week or weekend to do their their outdoor boy-scout thing.

Maybe you could do something like that.

Like actual bunnies that hop around or the other type of Bunny Ranch?

Thinking way outside the box...and I have no idea how big of a need there is for this, but...

What if you recorded video of the surrounding area with a drone and sold it to content creators? I'm thinking a flyby of the lake, zooming out from a field, time lapse of the sunset, etc. Content creators can use it for segues, intros, outros, etc.

Based on the area, the location, and your budget, these are some of the viable ventures you can consider:
  • Dairy Farm
  • Animal Shelter
  • Vineyard- because why not?
  • Real Estate Investing
  • Farmhouse for Tourism- is your place an avid tourist spot?
I hope this helps! :D
I thought about the vineyard one. That and the hemp are on top of my list. The vineyard because I can make wine.

It's not really a tourist place.

That would just make me a freelance drone content creator. But someone else said that I can rent the place and allow people to create content or test on the land. I'll give it some thought.

Alpaca! Alpaca fleece is worth a lot of money. Alpaca trekking is a growing pursuit with a large number of farms offering trekking in UK, France and Spain. Alpaca are tough surviving well in extreme heat and extreme cold. Get the right colour (Light colour) Alpaca to breed and they can be worth £1200. The light fleece is highly sought after as well as being the rarest it can be dyed virtually any colour.
Thank...you...for...this.

Motocross track, and you are giving me free access.

Seriously, it's super easy to build a track, rent or buy a cheap bobcat and spend a day building jumps with some buddy's, then start having some fun!

Charge membership fee's monthly/yearly etc / host races / track days.

Paintball field would be an option as well, buy some cheap guns & safety equipment & start renting then out.

Pony riding birthday parties for small children?
