    • Free range animals: alpacas, sheep, chickens, cows
    • Produce: Blueberries, hemp, hell Vanilla and Cacao if you can grow it at that climate?
    • I imagine it would be good to rotate certain crops too?
  • Have you considered taking an organic farming class?
    • I know a guy that retired and started a blueberry farm
    • Now he sells his organic crops wholesale to restaurants in Brooklyn and Queens
    • After you learn you can also teach organic farming techniques

I'm getting into the cryptocurrency space. I'll make a thread about it once I sell the first item. You're right I don't think I'll do it.
Crypto, when you have land, water and so on, I`m in Crypto for about 5 years, Do you want to know my pain ?

I get it but to breed horses you need a large upfront investment. You're talking about $50k plus for one horse.

I was looking for something

No worries. You clearly want something that will take no work, no capital and no thought, yet is highly profitable and has something to do with, but not really, 7 acres of land belonging to your parents.

What else would you have us do for you?

Let's be honest. You aren't going to do any of this. Or marketing.

I was thinking along the same lines as @MetalGear.

Except, I was thinking a retreat ranch for people who want to see what it's like to be a farmer or a cowboy/girl/person.

You could build a bunch of cabins like @MetalGear suggested.

Or you could use pre-built tiny homes.

Or you could refurbish some shipping containers.

I've been in crypto since 2010. Yes I know your pain but I'm about to get into the wallet side of crypto.

So like cowboy/cowgirl roleplay. Get a mix of animals and let them live the cowboy on a ranch fantasy? That sounds plausible. Like a petting zoo but for grown ups.

I've been in crypto since 2010. Yes I know your pain but I'm about to get into the wallet side of crypto.

Do to circumstances I will be moving back to living at home with my parents. I moved out from my parents because I got tired of living in the middle of nowhere.

I'm guessing that crypto hasn't been good to you, since you have to move back in with your parents (unless it's a parent's health issue, then I apologize).

If anyone has any experience on the most profitable way to monetize farmland your input will be appreciated. Thank you.

Probably not the right question to ask. Most profitable is often correlated to the amount of work, experience and funds.

You didn't mention what capital you have to start with.

My parents have a small 7 acre farm next to a small lake. That means I have access to land and water.

How big is the lake? What are zoning requirements.

If this were me and I HAD to live at this farm, this is what I would 100% do.

1) I would build a few cabins and rent them out Airbnb. Is there good fishing and lake access? Since you are living there, you can manage the units and handle the cleaning and hosting.

2) I would use that land to build more lakes, streams and create a wildlife refuge for animals. I would document all of this on a Youtube channel and earn money through it.

I watched a youtube video today of a 16yo kid that went around saving goldfish from abandoned ponds and water features. The video had 1.6M views. So many ways to make money right now. If I was given 7 acres of land with water flowing through it, I would turn it into wildlife mecca for all animals.

No it's not my parents health thankfully. It was crypto. I moved out during the 2017 bullrun. I was in the green at $50k with a $500 investment.

I thought I would finally make it because there was no stopping crypto at that time. So I spent $4k on a mining machine and the rest went to different cryptos from the ones I already had. You already know what happen at the start of 2018. With the crypto market collapsing so did my hopes of making it big on crypto.

So now instead of playing the market I'll sell "safes" to crypto enthusiasts.

The cabin idea sounds perfect. I forgot Airbnb was a thing. I'll look more into this one it sounds less time consuming than all the other ones. Right now I have no funds.

I'd go figure out what your local farmer's market and restaurants want, and what they have too much of and definitely don't need more of. Do people still go nuts for microgreens?

40 minutes south of Dallas. There are no guest houses.

great, ok so contact some of the owners of these venues and tell them what you have , private land that they could use for special events , i'd also try to get a hold of someone who does sound and maybe a more "underground' event promoter (you'll have to search social media for this), see if they can come out and eyeball the situation on the ranch (parking, where would portapotties go, could they integrate the existing structure into an event or to make a stage etc)

spend a few days doing research and contacted promoters, heres another set I found , all those companies with "promotions" "group" and "entertainment" in the name? they've done this before and they pay hard cash money to venues and they're generally hungry for new venues, you're now a new venue.

does matter what genre of music, most of these folks are networking with each other and on the hunt for what you have to offer, 40 minutes from the city and private land means they can have bigger more creative events and charge more at the door. Give it a shot.

Automobile pick-a-part could be an option, but I wouldn't do it unless the place was already a wasteland. Is this a "nice" property? Like lots of trees and beautiful scenery?

Alpaca! Alpaca fleece is worth a lot of money. Alpaca trekking is a growing pursuit with a large number of farms offering trekking in UK, France and Spain. Alpaca are tough surviving well in extreme heat and extreme cold. Get the right colour (Light colour) Alpaca to breed and they can be worth £1200. The light fleece is highly sought after as well as being the rarest it can be dyed virtually any colour.

Don't they grow sorghum in Texas? You could build a grain bin and export sorghum to China as it is one of the main ingredients for the #1 most popular alcoholic beverages that they make.

Don't know if you have any lakes around you, but you could raise nightcrawlers, leeches and minnows and achieve economies of scale and become a supplier to bait shops.

You could raise mushrooms and sell to restaurants in a nearby city. You could grow microgreens and sell to chefs.

You could set aside an acre or two for 3 years until it is certified organic, raise organic crops and market to yuppies.

I'm also trying to think outside of the box.

Solar farms are very lucrative, as there is a kilo watt per square foot equation that is always profitable. Big up front investment though...

Weddings wouldn't work where I live. Our neighbors from across the like lake have an obsession with blowing things up.

I can just imagine it now; "Can y'all refrain from blowing something up this weekend? We got a wedding on, and those city folks don't really take to explosions well".

I'm dying! :rofl: :happy::happy:

No it just didn't cross my mind. I thought Airbnb worked more in the city. I don't go camping myself but others do.

Yes there's a lake right behind the property. I'll research the bait idea more. Thanks.

Yeah the "out there" and "special interest" properties do really well on Airbnb. Plus with such local eccentricities such as neighbours blowing shit up, you could end up becoming a star property.

Maybe even hook up with another local and offer fishing trips and other relevant excursions as an add-on.

You'll kill it, I bet once it was up and running you could make $700-$1000 a week easy.

Lol "local eccentricities"

The lake behind my parents house is a mile in length and a few feet wide. It's also the neighbors backyard. This one time they were blowing some really powerful explosives we never heard before. Whatever it was some of the debris landed on our house and it shook the house. Which is very far away from the lake. A few minutes later a Careflite helicopter landed on their property. I guess someone got hurt. Later we found that an explosive landed in the middle of the herd of cows too. It killed a few.

I can already imagine the Airbnb reviews.:rofl::rofl:

Lol you won't be laughing when bitcoin hits $1,000,000,000,000 a coin.

I will AMEX comes up with their own blockchain and the speculative bubble bursts when people realize the only thing you can use Bitcoin for is buying darknet ecstasy and a Furry costume in Second Life. And then everyone tries to dump it but they can't because you can basically only sell it on craigslist.

You can virtually build whatever you want with very little risk (think incorporation and USDA-FSA loans)

There are already very good development ideas in this thread, so I will just leave these two suggestions here as seasoned agriculturist:

1. Environmental instability is an obstacle in your area; create an controlled environment if necessary to your desired goals (think greenhouses)

2. In commodity and agricultural products, the real value is in the secondary and terciary products (chocolate is more valuable than raw cacao, as is smoked meat is more valuable than a grazing cow)

Hope this helps and pushes forward.
