Hello fastlaners

So here's the deal, I want to make money.
I'm already working for a client making a couple bucks per month... BUT, it's not enough to live alone.

I'm going to tell you something: I'm from Argentina, and if you read the news... things here are going very bad (like always), think Venezuela but in a smaller scale.

So my goal is to get out from this country as soon as possible.

I explored several ventures, and one I ALWAYS wanted to do is Niche Sites.

I really want to build some small sites and monetize them.

The goal??

Make $1000/m in passive income!!

Timeframe??

January 2020

---

So what is this post for??

I'm making this thread because I will be logging my journey and my experiences! I'm sure some of you will find this useful!

Right now:

+ I have a blog: www.orangepillguy.com
I'm going to do monthly experiments a la 30daystox (www.30daystox.com), and detail my journey there. This is another thing I always wanted to do. I already started the first one and it's going very well. This helps me to expand my knowledge and see if I can monetize some of the experiments.

+ I'm already working on my first niche site. It's going to be a "micro niche site". A very very small site focused on helping people on a specific topic.
I have the material studied (dedicated the first 2 weeks to the task), and am writing content right now.

Also have the domain parked.

See you in a couple weeks!

As an additional, to increase my chances at this, I'm studying/applying books on sales (right now cashvertising) and practicing copywriting using ads from swipped.co. I do this everyday, 30-40m for each activity

If you want to make $1,000 per month, why don't you just start freelancing?
  1. Learn a skill.
  2. Improve that skill until you can make $25 an hour with it.
  3. Sell that skill for 40 hours per month.
Yeah, it's not passive, but if that's all it takes for you to be able to leave the country, then I'd start with that while working on your passive income websites on the side.

You don’t even have to learn the skill.

If you have to learn it don’t start with it.

Find a skill you can PIRATE online.

Find what’s working and SWIPE it.

The skill should pass this two criteria:

- Close to the money as possible (think sales letters)
- fundamentals can be picked up in a month.

I'm already freelancing and making ~$800 per month for a client.

I also done freelancing a couple years ago for a couple clients, so I had the "experience" (of looking for jobs, doing bids, blahblah)

But for 5 years I had this ITCH, this itch to create niche sites, to create apps, to create websites, to monetize them... and I never done a thing!

So this is me getting done with that procrastination and inaction.

Luckily, I already started. It's not a dream anymore. I'm finally dedicating time to this. I've been doing it for a bit more than 15 days.
The rest of it it's just NOT STOPPING. And improving every day.

Good job.

You seem to be on the right path. Just stay motivated and push forward.

Good luck on your journey.

Hello! Just chiming in to say that I changed my approach.

In short:

Instead of working on several things everyday (experiment, blog, niche site) I will focus on ONE thing at a time.

Right now this means that I have to finish an app (experiment #1)

I detailed this approach more on my blog: A Necessary Change In Plans - Orange Pill Guy

Hi, I just joined the forum after buying Mr. DeMarco's book (FLM) a few days ago - so I am still new at this. Sorry to hear about Argentina and the dire straights it is in. But in crisis, we find opportunity. So, instead of spreading your energy thin across several micro niche sites, how about focusing your energy on one thing which you observe to be in great need or want in Argentina right now? When you address that need/want, then you can work on providing good value for people. Start with a product or service within your industry and improve on it. That would seem a more rewarding (not easier, though, I admit) endeavor. I look forward to your reading about your progress. Best wishes! kp2.

Hey kp2. Yeah I understand the "focus on one big thing" but doing that I have a higher probability of failure. I prefer doing smaller projects, learning and implementing fast, experimenting with different things, and making a couple bucks with every one of these projects.

Short update:

Just finished my app/experiment. It was fun, I learned a lot, and the most important thing is that I broke this mental barrier of learning a specific soft for making apps.

Sadly, the app was rejected by google play... but I don't care lol. It wasn't going to generate money either way, so not worth to fight for it.

What I'm going to do in the close future is building a different app, something that really ought to be monetized.

What's next? Working on my niche site. I plan to launch it on 15/06.

See you around!

I'm an idiot.

less than 6 months left and I'm f****ng around.

I started developing a game, it was going to take 2-3 months to finish it.

But why? that's so stupid! it's not going to give me money! it's not going to fullfill my goals!

That's why I decided to drop it.

I didn't even finish my first niche site. That's irresponsible.

I'm also dedicating time to the blog and doing experiments... but really? More dumb timewasters.

RIGHT NOW I SHOULD BE WORKING LIKE A MAD MAN BUILDING NICHE SITES.

MY GOAL IS TO MAKE $1000 per month in passive income by 2020.

+ Making the game is not going to accomplish that
+ Writing on the blog, while good for practice, is not going to give me money
+ Experiments are educative and all... but still aren't going to make me money

My priority right now is getting the hell out of here. Having my own place. Away from this country.

So... what now?

I'm going to build 10 niches sites before this year ends.

Expect more updates from me. (at least 10 of them lol).

I have 2 niche sites and they are both generating money. Spreading yourself thin is a surefire way to not meet your goals.

Google will put any new sites content into a "sandbox". For most fresh sites, it'll take you about 6 months to rank an article. Affiliate marketing is not easy, you can't just throw up 10 sites anymore in any topic and get paid.

Personally, I have about 100k words of content on site 1 and 50k on site 2. Writing or even buying content is not an easy process. Pretty much I think you may be underestimating the grind of ranking one of these sites. You have to look at it as a business 100% if you want that 1k a month.

At this stage you're better off focusing on fleshing out one site fully, going after long-tail keywords, and hoping to clear 100 dollars a month in that timeframe. Good luck, be practical and logical about it. In 5 years a site could easily bring in 10k a month. But in 6 months its setting yourself up for heartbreak.

I got a few questions.

What value does your niche site provide?
Will it impact people's life or entertain them?

I wish you all the best and I hope you can get through to achieving at least one of your goals - to get out of the country as you already mentioned that it's not going to be a good place to be anytime soon.
