Hey all!

I saw this somewhere else and I thought it was a cool idea. So i wrote myself a letter filled with goals and promises to myself by the end of 2019. Using this website FutureMe: Write a Letter to your Future Self

For those who make new years resolutions and all, this is a great way to do it!

Have A Happy New Year and I hope 2019 is the year for you!
I did this years ago and got my letter back, marked "return to sender." Reassuring to know my future self is the same smart a$$ my present self is. :playful:

Kidding aside, I do like this exercise.

I like the idea of the letter but for me I would rather be able to read it on a regular basis so it keeps me motivated and on track so I don't get an email a year later that fills me with disappointment.

I use Penzu (a free journal you can access from anywhere there is a net connection) to do a similar thing but it allows for more depth.

In it I have the letter to my future self written in the present tense so the events are as if they have already happened (aids with visualisation as the brain can't tell the difference between fiction and reality).

I have a Gratitude Journal which I fill in as soon as I boot the PC up in the morning (puts you in the right frame of mind).

A page for each month of the year entitled 'Goals for January' Goals for February etc.. In it I put in short range goals for business, health and family.

A page called The Perfect Day which contains a diary of what my perfect day would look like from waking up to going to bed. This allows me to slowly see the life I want for myself and my family slowly materialise.

A page to keep me motivated entitled "If I don't do the work where will I be in a years time?"

In it I have bullet points of the good and the bad plus images of places I want to visit and purchases I'd like to make with a timeline to ensure I keep my shit together and get the work done.

I also have a Daily Journal for any ramblings I want to remember.

I find it really motivating. I pop it open to fill in the Gratitude Journal and usually check that months goals and the 'keep my shit together' page as well while I am there.

Right now I'm reading "Be Obsessed or be Average" by Grant Cardone. He talks about writing \your goals out daily first thing so that they are always in the forefront of your mind. I know I need to do this because I will often lose focus if I go more than a few days without spending time with my goals.

Good stuff you've shared! I've tried to find the "perfect" journal for years, but none exists so I've had to create a hybrid system of my own, similar to yours. I'll have to check out Penzu, too. Btw, are you in Steve's mastermind?

Thanks. Some of it might sound a little 'away with the fairies' but the techniques have solid foundations and are known to work so utilising them makes perfect sense to me.

Budda said “The mind is everything. What you think, you become.”
Napoleon Hill said “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”
But I like Muhammad Ali's take for pure Ali style:

“If my mind can conceive it, and my heart can believe it - then I can achieve it.”

Btw, are you in Steve's mastermind?

No, I'm not part of Steve's mastermind. What am I missing?
