What are the things you think about when you've gone to bed?

Is your mind blank? Or racing? Or you fantasize about something? Or worry about something?

I think it would be an interesting thing to compare against, especially against already successful members.

I always imagine interviewing people I look up to, MJ and Patrick Bet David. Its kind of random but always seems to come into my mind.

How far I have come, since the first days of action faking lol.

And giving thanks for the few blessed individuals that stuck to me, no matter what.

I'm grateful for what I have. Even if I had a bad day I am conscious that I'm living in safe country, can go out and buy food or water. Same time, people in Africa or Asia are dying in most fuc***g way that you can image. Just be grateful.
Amen to that!

Dying is easy though. Last breath, and then the end. Living ALIVE in a hellhole of war or terribly planned urbanisation would be a living insanity. I'm pretty ashamed to admit that in my safe country, I have begun to complain about the time taken to get to the shop haha.

I heard a spiritual/inspirational talk with advice I liked: As you go to sleep, think about, "In general, tomorrow could be a good happy day for me. A day I enjoy, get things done, have good people in my life and get along with them." Instead of trying to predict all the specifics, stay on those positive-vibes generalities. As was predicted, it seems to help me start the next day with a more constructive attitude.

Sometimes, I need to combat the racing mind. Enough thinking has been done. It is time to sleep.

I literally open up a drawer and symbolically dump all my thoughts in there. It sounds like paper blowing in the wind. Then refuse to have another though until morning when they all fly back into my head.

It is tough to keep the mind completely blank. It gets easier over time.

I'm currently living without a lot of margin in my schedule, so as soon as my head hits the pillow my mind goes nuts processing the day's events. I've started combatting this by reading a good narrative novel. "Unbroken" is currently on my nightstand.

My mind will race for 1-2 hours without stopping. In a way, it's a form of meditation cycling through connections throughout the day.

To combat this, I put on half hour science lectures. It does the trick to turn off the brain, while getting something useful out of it.

I tried business lectures, but I'll pay too much attention and start coming up with new ideas and plans.

Next day to-do lists seem to help

I think/fantasize about something completely unrelated to my life, because otherwise I can't get good sleep. I find it best to disconnect and pass out. Never had a problem with insomnia or sleeping.

^^^ Yes, this is just what I was going to say.^^^

The thing to NEVER think of is anything to do with numbers or that is going to make you think or keep track of something. Now counting 1,2,3..... is ok but not adding or any type of math.

This is going to sound weird but I used to be a cashier and for some reason I still sometimes dream about operating a cash register. It's almost like I have a phantom limb. I wish I could give a cooler answer but I am a light sleeper and I don't dream very often either.

No shame there... when I was a kid I always wanted to be a cashier.

I sat in on a lot of studies about sleep a long time ago. I own a very, very small part of a mattress business. Sleep really fascinates me.

Kitty beds :)

But speaking of pillows and since this is a sleep thread..... I would have never of guessed a high priced pillow would make the difference in a nights sleep. Don't buy the $100 pillow from Bed-Bath&Beyond (my budget), go to a professional mattress store and they can fit you with a pillow that will help you get to sleep faster and sleep better.... if they are a true professional. Shoes, mattress and pillow are the 3 most important 'things' in your life.

I program my subconscious mind to start working on my current project or problem. I go over my list of steps or issues and I instruct it to find a solution. I keep a pad by my bed for the answers... and I tend to come up some good ones...
