Trying to format a resume but I am having trouble with finding something I want to add.

Can someone help me find how to add these with text in the middle?

Thanks!

:)

Insert -> Table (1x1)
Select the table cell and change the background to that grey.
Go to table -> properties and borders and select "none" to get rid of the border
Center the text in the cell (it should span the entire page)
Change the text color to red

In Word 2010 Professional Plus

1) Write your text and center align it.

2) Highlight your text

3) While highlighted chose Insert --> table (Table design tools will appear automatically)

4) Choose a design that has a coloured header background.

5) Color your text to suit.

Seem to be having trouble with making the table height thinner, so it conforms to the height of the text.

Looks like you have extra spaces after the text in the table. Go in after the D and type the delete key (not backspace) or even ctrl-delete to get rid of them

You may have dragged the cell and made it bigger. Is the "specify height" toggle checked? if so, uncheck it:
