I woke up and checked Reddit, this was the top post with over 55k upvotes, it was categorised as "funny"

Sunday night • r/funny

55,000 people who are thinking "Haha, my job is making me lose the will to live and to not exercise, binge watch Netflix and become overwhelmed with anxiety. But what other option do I have LOL"

Red pill or Blue pill??????????? Note to self, "Stop wasting time looking at what the 99.9% are bitching about unless you have the solution to sell them."

this makes me sad, I was a pretty active redditor in 2007-2008 up till maybe a year ago, It used to be a intellectual community and you can still find it in small subreddits in some places but it has really dropped in quality due to the massive growth in traffic over the past 2-3 years.

I made a Reddit post yesterday offering to tear down people's landing pages- problem hunting for my copywriting and web design business.

In addition to the 14 people that asked for my help, I got a bunch of down votes, a comment from one of the mods about how my post belonged in their unorganized, overcrowded "support thread," and one comment from some d*ckhead about how I was only doing it because I had no copywriting experience (I've been copywriting for years, but whatever).

Reddit is great for problem hunting (whiners and complainers EVERYWHERE) But that's it.

Reddit has turned into a cesspool over the past 18 months.

Its just another venue that was founded on free-thought and free-speech that in time, has eroded into the polar opposite. Now is just one gigatastic echo-chamber.

My favorite is when the CEO himself edits posts he doesn't agree with without the posters knowledge or consent.

IMA guessin you aren't buying Reddit's preferred narrative of terrorism: "workplace violence" or a "lone wolf" who just happened to lose control over his Mack truck filled with explosives.

If you guys want to check out the most failure-ridden toxic mindset on reddit you should check out r/LateStageCapitalism. I can't wrap my head around why anyone would be against capitalism. It's literally being against the freedom to trade with other humans.

As opposed to "late stage socialism" like what's going on in Venezuela? Mention that and watch how fast you'd be banned.

Thanks for that. Really needed another time suck in my day

I think "Late Stage Capitalism" is making money by providing people a place to bitch about how they can't make any money... or get laid (according to the graph), without any sense of irony.

This is going to be the model of many, many more communities - mark my words.

Extremely controversial viewpoint + "safe space" mentality + heavy censorship.

You already see it in Universities all over the USA and Canada. They take the most extreme viewpoints possible, restrict conversation about their viewpoints in the name of comfort and safety and respect, and then wrap it all up in what they are calling a victory for free speech and tolerance. And then if anyone disagrees, they call it "hate speech" and feel justified in attacking it.

And people are surprised when 1984 hits the best sellers list again...

I love the people who hate on Capitalism while they parasitically suck the blood from veins of the very system they hate. What created their computer, Internet, energy, food, cell phone, Starbucks and every single particle of the modern life without which they would become someone's dinner in about 5 minutes? CAPITALISM! I always ask,"If you hate it so much why don't you go live in North Korea?" They would love to have you over for dinner.

This isn't even funny, it's disturbing.

I used to be one of those people not long ago, except the "will to live" thing was literal in my case, I would have literally killed myself if I hadn't snapped out of the ridiculousness of it all.

How the fudge do people tell me to go get a "normal" job when they know in their hearts this is how you life is going to be...until you die?

Don't get me started on the safe space thing.

The UK nearly went "late stage democracy" as the mob just about voted themselves largesse at the expense of "the rich".

I'm happy to pay higher taxes because I make more money and I'm good with free healthcare and heavily subsidized education - I prefer not to be surrounded by stupid, sick people.

But when it turns to, "We're going to tax you at 75%" for no other reason than envy and laziness, that's where I tend to lose my patience.

I generally don't mind "tax the rich" talk -- I have a problem when they classify "rich" as $250K/year for a dual income household with 4 kids. Nowadays, "rich" is anyone with a good job or a decent business.

I would be inclined to agree with this.. but the question is where would you draw the line?

Myself I would see somone classified rich as somone that makes over 700k a year...

However, I'm open to suggestions and other things because I have no idea how things work that high up in the Tax Bracket

$700k is within range, I was thinking like $1M a year. Kinda depends on location, $1M in NYC or Hong Kong is different than $1M in Omaha.

Right for sure, but that is why people do break things up in tax brackets, but at the same time they complicate things and open things up for loopholes and such...
