I'm a part of that generation. We're admittedly piss poor.

On the other hand, if the interviewer represented that generation - they're also piss poor.

Don't worry about being piss poor. You'll do fine in the future. Right now is building your character. Adversity shapes the Entrepreneur. You're in the right place, you just have to go through the process, do your inner work, discipline your mind, focus, create, be innovative, take action. Time is everything. While you may be wanting to be there right now. You may not be ready. When you're ready, learned the wisdom, knowledge, and figure out what real power is, than your time will arrive.

My take as a millennial:

We were fed all our lives this crap about how special we are and how we can be anything we want to be. Now we're being shit on for being stupid enough to believe it. Some of us are demanding that this 'special snowflake' environment be built for us in adulthood. They're dumb, but if you can't see why they're demanding it then you're even dumber than they are (or you just don't care).

At least some of us are starting to see it was all a lie and that we're no more special than any other generation before us.

Our script is still being written and I'll tell you: it's already a bunch of bullshit. No wonder we're munching Adderall to work, benzos to sleep, and opiates to numb the pain of our f*cked up fairy tale gone awry. (I'm a positive person I swear... lol)

I will leave you my two cents here as brain food.

Dear Baby Boomers:

I'm going to raise my kid to think he's special. I'll never tell him "no". I won't force him to work. I'll send him to idiot bureaucrats and marxist professors for his education. In light of all this, I hereby relinquish my right to complain when he grows up to be a useless a**hole.

Here's back at you for posting this comment! Millennials are having depression because they key hearing this kind of crap on the Internet and offline. Fortunately the way out of Depression, learning manners, and learning respect, is respecting their emotional, mental, boundaries.

It's simple, respect another human being, you get respect. Lead by example, they follow! I have a Millennial son. He respects authority because I did exactly this.

Psychology of listening! Listening to the Millennials means hearing them! Right or wrong they're expressing themselves.

Not interrupting them. Valuing their existence! Treating them with respect even if they're reckless at times because they're young. Explaining why you believe what you do, why it works, and how it works, works well with them.

I don't treat them like children, but adults. I don't tell them what to do. I explain to them they have choices. There is a cause and effect to their actions. I don't judge them, I don't ridicule them, I don't tell them the negatives.

I point out their strengths, they're creativity. I teach them to focus on improving their lives. Direction and guidance, just like in fastlane. I point out books, videos, and websites where they can improve their lives. My son learned just from me sharing Fastlane since I started. I see the impact of it in him.

Why bashing Millennials backfires. They become more violent, destructive, rebellious, and fight. That's common sense. I really never understand why some Entrepreneurs know how Depression works, but insist on causing emotional and mental pain for the Hell of it, because it's not necessary.

They're not rebellious with me because I see them, hear them, and validate who they are in their experience. I don't baby them. I tell them how it is and why it's wrong. Usually they listen. They don't act helpless around me because I'm not victimizing them. For their to be a victim, you must play the role of persecutor, or judge. If you step out of those roles there is no victim or helplessness.

They don't always like what I say, but communication is key. How you communicate with them.

Negativity produces negativity. Negative outcomes!

They used to say my Generation X class of 89 was the worst class that ever came through our high school. I suppose when I look at the group I hang out with today, they're all Entrepreneurs, grew up, used their creativity, innovation, and artistic abilities. I'm sure the Baby Boomers understand quite well we did the same as the Millennials.

The Baby Boomers we're the rebels in the 1960's.

My Grandfather's generation was rebellious. He once told me he slicked back his hair with grease, wore a leather jacket, jeans, and hung out in his group. Started smoking as a young kid.

I believe every generation will have struggles with another generation. This is natural. In Gerontology they will talk about at the end of the elderly's life they don't understand the younger generations, think they've lost their manners, their rebellious, disobedient, wild and crazy.

Every generation lives in a different era, with different rules, different regulations, and different beliefs.

You even probably were a rebel at some point. It's human nature. Give Millennials some slack. They're young, growing, and developing. Give them ten or twenty years they'll be different just like you and I. That's maturing as young woman and young men.

11 Rules that you don't learn in school.
From the book "Dumbing Down our Kids" by Charles Sykes

This is mistakenly attributed to Bill Gates, as a Speech he supposedly gave at Mt. Whitney High School in Visalia, California.

It is actually from the book "Dumbing Down our Kids" by Charles J. Sykes, 1995, and is directed at high school and college graduates.

Rule 1:
Life is not fair - get used to it

Rule 2:
The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself

Rule 3:
You will NOT make $40,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both

Rule 4:
If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss

Rule 5:
Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger flipping - they called it opportunity

Rule 6:
If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them

Rule 7:
Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you are. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parents' generation, try delousing the closet in your own room

Rule 8:
Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life has not. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as many times as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life

Rule 9:
Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you find yourself. Do that on your own time!

Rule 10:
Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs

Rule 11:
Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one

I believe you have not read or understood my comment.

In plain English now – every single generation poorly understood the next generation and judged them by their differences, assuming that its generation is better than the newcomers.

This is such an old habit that even Socrates (dead 400 bC) has said this kind of things. In other words, there are differences. However, older people has always been close-minded and gave attention to their impressions of right or wrong instead of trying to understand how the new generation thinks.

So, I agree with you. But watch out – today was just about skipping the author of a quote; tomorrow could be significant cash going down the toilet.

And I am 23 years old.

Definitely true however I think this time it is truly different because of the technological advances in the last 25 years.

We are entering an unknown territory that involves a specific divergence in brain chemistry (as well as sociology) that has never been encroached before. We can't say that for the last 2,000 years.

While this pic show millennials, it's relevant for all of us.

I'm more likely to believe that there are no meaningful differences in generations more than one in particular might be the embodiment of all our transgressions.

I've become obsessed lately with the idea that story is our pandemic - filters and biases that should be malleable but are incentivized to be rigid.

So I think "millennials" might be 90% marketing avatar, 10% accurate. The story of the lazy, entitled, narcissistic basement dweller is compelling and divisive, which leads to attention - which is the point.

I both agree and disagree you. The purpose of the story (Millenials) is to give people someone to blame for the system without questioning the system that created those people.

I know "the system" sounds like the language of an undergraduate conspiracy theory, and feel free to take it with a grain of salt. I hope it's evident the general point I'm trying to convey

I completely agree, there is way more changing now than it was before. However, to say which one is better or worse, can be quite difficult if not impossible.

For example, many millennials have done an outstanding job creating very disrupting services/products/technologies (Zuck, for starters). Yet, I don't see "Millenial success" as a trending topic within casual conversations around the globe. Unfortunately, it is not the same with this whole Millenial drama about being self-entitled or whatsoever.

And to be honest, I don't even think that typical Millenials traits are good or bad. The only thing I believe and can't be refuted is that, as time goes by, Millenials will become grown-ups (or most of them, hopefully). And they won't change.

So it is best to understand them as a generation and learn how to get things to work out with them, you know? In the context is this forum, why not learn how to make money with them instead of ranting? I know this topic has comic intentions, but I believe it might be a good opportunity to offer some insights for my fellow previous generation.

Moreover, generation Z is coming up as well - and way "worse" than us for that matter.

I think it's kind of exciting to be here on the earth right now and take part in things. You can say we're all like squadrons. Baby Boomers, Generation X, and Millennials! We all have our part to play! We can learn to work together or combat time.
We're making history! We're making the future! We're the front lines for a new and better world, or disaster for our future generations. Everything built up must be torn down. That's just the natural process.

Not the easiest thing for any of us. There's excitement, curiosity, anticipation, motivation, adventure, innovation, creation, but there's also knowing this is a challenge of a life time for everyone world-wide.

We are the pioneers making history!
