1) Terrible name. What the heck is a Freezinda? I dunno, but it sounds weird.

Try something like... "Protein Ice" or "Ice Protein".

It says what it does .... and self explanatory.

2) Branding.... terrible. The colors are all wrong. You're targeting male fitness niche.... normally that niche's colors are dark and masculine. Not light and fluffy. Your site comes across like its targeting little kids.

3) The copy is weak. You keep mentioning that weird name in the copy like 10 times in 1 paragraph. Its not a good luck, nobody cares. Hire a professional copywriter.

4) The video sucks. Again, it looks like you are targeting kids. Also the "intro" is not necessary. Create a new video that isn't a cartoon and just show case the product in action in less than 30 seconds. Like in steps... 1, 2, 3.... boom now you've got tasty protein ice.

Sell the benefits.... and your USP.

Concept however, is great. Don't give up. Good luck.

If he burns that name by spamming, he'd be ironically doing himself a favor.

That name shouldn't have been an option in the first place.

Truly, appreciate all the feedback so far guys. I think I'll come up with a better home page video for launch.

Regarding the name, the slogan is "Are you FREEZINda protein" which is a play on the words "Are you 'freezing the' protein."

My target market is women aged 19 to 34, as they eat the most ice cream :) So the packaging is as such.

The final ingredient list/nutrition will be available once manufacturing is completed. I've made several formula alterations (including some recent ones) over the year timespan of making 1,900 pounds+ of frozen dessert, trying to find the 'median' point for all home freezer temperature levels. Really appreciate the feedback, thanks for your support! <3

What's stopping me from just pouring milk and protein powder in a bag and placing it in another bag with ice and salt?

How does FREEZINda make it easier?

I saw that it takes 14 hours. What?! I can make a single serving of ice cream in less than an hour. Why does it take so long?

People who drink protein shakes tend to be pretty serious about their health. Is it natural ingredients? Does it contain gluten, MSG, gelatin, trans fats, artificial preservatives or flavors, dyes? Is it vegetarian? Will it fit my macros? Does it have added sugar?

Thanks for your comment really appreciate it.

Regarding how it's easier, is that it does not require any refrigerated products and does not require an ice cream maker or additional products. The process involves making a protein shake, mixing in FREEZINda and placing in your freezer.

Unfortunately, it does take 14 hours to freeze to an ice cream like state. And, I simply do not know a way around that :(

The nutrition and label information will be available soon :) Thanks so much for your feedback.

I like the product idea - very unique.

The website and video honestly looks like a bunch of Fiverr gigs pasted together, and for a consumable product, it makes you seem untrustworthy.

The theme is more for kids or young girls, so if your market is people who workout and drink protein powder, I think you're way off.

Show pictures of fit people making/eating your product.

Make the theme black and metal/edgy looking like a gym or a workout program would.

Protein powder drinkers typically want to know macros and micros - show a nutrition table.

The website says 50 calories in one place and 150 in another, and only mentions low sugar (which is relative).

This is more of a personal thing, but if your product is all carbs (13 or 37 carbs depending on correct calorie count), I wouldn't buy the product.

Protein powders should have a lot of protein, but less than 5 carbs and fat - otherwise it's not a protein powder, but a calorie powder.

If you add 13 or 37 carbs to a protein shake, it defeats the purpose of consuming protein powder since you're not really getting a protein surplus.

I agree I'll work on the video :) Very good points, appreciate the feedback! The demographic target is 19 to 34 year old women, hence the packaging colors :) I'll have the nutrition information soon!
Here's my feedback.

Ingredients list, what's in it? People who drink protein powder usually care about that.

Also, if you're drinking protein shakes regularly, I wouldn't say you're tired of it.
For me, I usually enjoy my shakes or it's a quick way to fill out my macros.

Instead try talking about the limited dessert options for a healthy diet.

"Have a dressert craving but don't want to kill your macros? Pour Freezinda into the protein powder you already have and enjoy healthy icecream you can't buy at the store"

Make sure you point out there really isn't protein icecream out there, stress the convenience of already having your own powder too.

Website looks good on phones too.

Maybe make the first thing I see on the landing page a bowl of icecream instead of a video.

Awesome thanks for your feedback! I'll be able to share the ingredients soon :) Love the selling point of limited healthy dessert options. Dessert cravings are now the American trend, I'll see if I can implement that into a sales pitch :)
You married to the Freezinda name?

I kind of echo some of the other copy/design reactions but those are easy enough to fix.... I just can't get past the name.

Thanks for the advice. Already trademarked.
Look at the amount of GREAT feedback you're getting on your first post to this forum. You're a lucky one.

:)
I keep wanting to call it Freeze Linda...
lol
You may not want to list yourself as a testimonial.
Great advice!
I just changed the css slightly and think it looks a little cleaner with a white header and the logo a little small also:
Very nicely done! When you scroll down on the website it does change to white. Anyone else have any feedback if they think this looks better? :)
you should also get feedback from your customer avatar : body builder or real people using protein powder at the gym or anywhere.

you have to test everything because logic and reason don't work very well with the emotional and irrational needs of people

people don't think like us

we think " it's a great idea ! " and nobody buys

we think "this idea is stupid" and everybody buys.

i have done business on ebay : people bought the stupid things i thought nobody would want to buy

and nobody wanted the things i thought would be sold quickly.

people are irrational

I'll be able to follow up later with everyone else later tonight. My apologizes to everyone for lack of time for responses. I know your time is valuable and I do appreciate your feedback.

*send me some samples -_-

Samples will be provided locally in the Tampa region. If you want to reach out to me in a couple months when manufacturing is completed, I'll see what I can do :) Thanks for asking!

I really dislike the name - is there a reason for it?
How about ProFreeze or something.

You should definitely get rid of your own testimonial, just have your best friends have some or something. Looks more legit.

You should reconsider the packaging, people who go to the gym don't want to see frost flakes or pink man - we see cool shit that makes us want to lift heavier, get bigger...

Great points. I trademarked the name already. I maybe should have sought more suggestions last year.

Done :)

From the demographics the current target market is women between 19 and 34 who drink protein shakes.

Honestly, I don't see the need...

I've been lifting for 4 years and I don't really think that protein powder tastes bad. Optimum Nutrition makes good tasting protein powder. Their "extreme chocolate milk" flavor tastes great with just cold water. They are a huge brand and are known for having good tasting protein powders.

Plus, a lot of cheaper brands are trying to make their protein powder taste better too. There is even a relatively new company Legion that makes their protein powder taste great without artificial sweeteners. Protein powder is tasting better and better, so I don't see this being something people really need...

You can already get greek yogurt ice cream bars that have decent protein content and taste really good. I crave them. They are pretty high in carbs so are basically a desert to make meal planning less painful, and you can buy them straight from the store.

For me, I'd rather stick to chicken for getting my protein content, and when I've used protein powder I've never had a problem with the taste.

I think it's an interesting idea, and one people will say sounds cool, but I'm not sure they will be willing to back that up with their cash.

This is just one lifter's opinion... If I were you, I'd do more research to find out if other bodybuilders/lifters would actually buy it. Maybe try on reddit.com/r/bodybuilding or it's little less fit brother reddit.com/r/fitness.

---

P.S. Please don't leave reviews and testimonials as the founder. It made me cringe a bit.

Really amazing feedback, thank you! For myself I actually have gotten nauseous in the past with various protein powder shakes. I love greek yogurt! I havn't tried the bars though. Thanks for the support. I will need to do a LOT more research, that is apparent :)

I have a strong suspicion he came here to drop his site link and never come back. If he genuinely wanted feedback on his business concept, you think he wouldn't have logged off 10 min after his post and not come back since...

I know your time is valuable. All I can do is apologize for not replying back quicker.

The freezinda twitter account is him announcing himself as the company's "sweepstakes winner" :clench:

Very proud to work with VirtualPBX :)

Miss that show :)

lol thats funny
and kinda sad. im going to have to edit the post i made earlier

I see how you view that post, I really do. I wanted to just show my appreciation to VirtualPBX for choosing me! And, I thought sharing was a great idea at the time.

As others have stated the nutrition needs to be addressed in detail.
The market is tough to break into, your audience(myself included) might not see the need.
$4 a pack? Pass, protein powder is popular due to convenience, price, and taste.
Your youtube video looked like it was from 2005. Iphone 5 videos are better quality.

Very great points. I will address the nutrition soon. The market, I have no clue how will react, all I can do is pray, work hard, and put in time. That is the intro price with the current cost of manufacturing considered. As with scale/volume the price may go down. I agree, the market may be small due to price and concept. Any suggestions on how to improve the video? I really need help on this.

Did a quick google and he's spamming this shit on other forums too. Ban him.

Yeah, I F*cken love my protein shake after my workout. It's the best part haha.

Also, F*ck this guy. Using the goodwill of people to promote his piece of shit business.

I apologize if I have wasted your time in any way.

What a joke. The value provided in the responses (if he read them) would have been highly beneficial for this poor fella, but instead he's probably still spamming a ton of other forums and reddit and will continue doing so until the business dies a slow and painful death. #landfill

Currently samples are only in the Tampa area. I had a sample run compelted. If you reach out to me after manufacturing is completed, I'll see what I can do :) I'll provide updates via my mailing list.

Ah well. Some people are on the Sidewalk, some are in the Slowlane, some are in the Fastlane and then there's this guy who's in the worst lane of all - the Spamlane.

I apologize for your time and for not replying back right away.

That's pretty dangerous doing that. The Tai Lopez thread is usually # 3 or 4 on Google. Would be a shame if SEO ranks a thread like this at the top of google

Dangerous doing what?

This thread is already on page 4 on google for the brand name.

Thanks for noting.

Well at least anyone googling will now know his product sucks and he awards himself fake sweepstakes. At least he signed up with his real name?

I'd love for you to try it someday so I can change your mind regarding the product sucking.

https://www.virtualpbx.com/blog/awards-and-promotions/mobileyear-sweepstakes-winner/

Yup, that's me :)

im gonna stick to my protein shakes they taste good plus they take 10 seconds for me to shake it up and have it ready.

Nice, what brand/flavor?

Brutally honest feedback is what I need. So, thank you for that. Apparently I should have sought more suggestions last year regarding the name. The branding is for target market of women age 19-34 who use protein powder. Can you elaborate on the copy? Are you referring to my blog posts? I agree, I need help with the video. Big time. Have any suggestions?

If he burns that name by spamming, he'd be ironically doing himself a favor.

Burns, how so? Was it a play on words being the antithesis of freezing?

That name shouldn't have been an option in the first place.

Are you referring to the name FREEZINda?

You've got some outstanding feedback here. I have a few interjections of my own also.
#1. I don't care much for the name, it's not memorable and doesn't do a good job of identifying what the product is. I also had to read it slowly and a couple of times to actually have it.
#2. People in the fitness world throw huge red flags at any supplements that aren't transparent with their ingredient profile. I would recommend NOT hiding your ingredients in a proprietary blend. BTW what's in this stuff??
#3. IMHO the calories are quite high and would add considerably to a diet regimen. Just to have your protein in ice cream form I don't think would be worth it, especially if someone has to wait 14 hours to partake. Can you do anything to bring the calorie count down and freeze the protein at the same time?

Absolutely great feedback, thanks!

The name has been set, and it seems that I should've asked for suggestions last year when I chose it :(

I will gladly share the nutrition label and ingredients sometime before launch. Part of me wants to keep that confidential until launch. Maybe, I posted this thread too early in the process.

To bring the calories down more I have ideas in the future :) Thanks for you noting that. Once this batch is manufactured, sold and tests the market, I'll look into that for sure! As far as freezing at the same time, it would require liquid nitrogen. Hmmm...Good point though.

Hi, Welcome!

The fitness market is huge right now and continuing to expand... personally, I can think of many people in your target demographic that will be interested in this product..... so well done to you for finding a potential gap in the market!

However, I don't think you should be celebrating just yet...

Just a little food for thought...

The following webpage is very slow to load and the design is probably the worst here:

Protein Powder Ice Cream Like Dessert Mix | Protein Powder Recipes

This instantly kills credibility and professionalism.

Speaking of credibility, one way you could establish this at this current stage is to connect with with influencers for your target market.... so start connecting! for example, I see a lot of popular fitness enthusiastic instagram pages/youtube channels targeted at females, you could reach out to them to get reviews or even combine a joint venture negotiation to promote giveways, competitions (note: not a good idea to have competitions page on a website that has low traffic, stick this with social media instead) and special launch deals. The possibilites are endless.

Perhaps, instead of a "Free Prizes" page you have a "Free Samples" page since food products seem to work better with samples. In addition, you could include a countdown until launch on landing page and also capture emails so you can let interested prospects know about your launch.

I see that you have the strange brand name trademarked (the name is terrible, as other users have already stated).

Let's imagine that this product takes off. I see a huge issue with businesses with better branding to "steal" your concept and execute it better. What is stopping them?

Since it is not possible to patent ingredient lists or recipes.....you can only patent "new and useful process, machine, manufacture, or composition of matter, or any new and useful improvement thereof" as well as "novelty items" (In the US). I'm sure you already knew this... again, just food for thought to help you brainstorm....

Possible solution: Implement a form of "trade secrets" strategy, to avoid others copying and executing better; if/when successful (because someone with stronger branding and marketing will!).

Again, all this depends on your launch strategy and whether the product takes off or not.

Tdlr; at the surface level, fantastic concept but from where I'm standing....poor branding and execution.

Here's my short take, regardless of the motives behind the thread.

1. Many suggestions were given in the thread with great constructive criticism on the product, branding, website/design and marketing. All of this info should be taken in and acted upon.

2. Brand Name - It's not attractive, I thought of freezing Linda also. When you mentioned it stands for freez in da(the) lol, I would have never thought of this, nor would anyone. The name should be reflective of the brand and it's meaning or mission behind the business.

3. Design colors - A few mentioned that it should be darker but the colors are fine if you're targetting women only. With women only products, think of light colors, light blues, pinks, purple.

4. Testimonials and Sweepstake winners - LOL, it's hard to type this out but man, remove yourself, it's not hard to make a fake name and even grab an image of someone off google which can be used freely without copyright infringement (you can do an advanced google image search to find images which can be used for recreational and commercial use free of charge)

5. The product - I think you need to get some feedback from women in your target audience group. It's all guys replying in this thread and none of us knew until later on in the thread that this product was targeting women only. I think this is a huge mistake. Your niche is way too small. I don't think this business will accelerate and grow in a quickly manner, it's way too narrow. I would guess that 80% of the protein purchased on the market is from guys training of all age groups. A lot of girls I know who do train don't even take protein powders after their workout, they make something and eat something light. Run some facebook ads, spend some money and gauge the audience. This product would never sell for guys. I'm not going to sit and eat an ice cream after a workout lol. When I finish working out, I want to kill a protein shake made in seconds and then eat a steak/chicken dinner an hour later. Also, this is what I call a relatively seasonal product. You now have a product which will sell a few months out of the year to an extremely small and tight niche. In Toronto, where I live. I don't even want to see ice cream unless it's June/July/Aug and I'm dying of heat outside. I'm sure the same goes for people in New York, Chicago, Colorado, etc etc.

That's my take on it all. If you want to revolutionize the protein industry, I would make something which attracts men and women. I would suggest a quick and easy solution for protein on the go. Some weekends, I'm super busy and don't eat 6-7 meals a day like I do on the weekdays, so I always making massive protein shakes (1-2) which I take on the road with me while I'm running around on the weekends or if I'm on a road trip going away for the weekend. The problem is, if it's a warm day it tastes disgusting when it warms up and the bottle smells like crap if I don't wash it right away. If there's some solution to make a natural good tasting protein bar out of the protein powder which I have but has no added carbs, sugar, etc, that would be a good solution. It must be ready though in less than 7-8 hours (in the event I want to make them on a Friday night so they're ready Sat morning). This is just a random idea, but you get the picture. Many years back, I tried 4-5 recipes to make protein bars and they came out horrible and tasted like shit. If you have any other ideas regarding portability and saving time, that's the winner, IMO.

So you trademarked the name already, big deal. Spend another $250 and get a new trademark. Launching with a name people don't like is going to cost you way more than $250.

The ingredients list is really important. It should have been the first thing on your mind when you started this product. The fact that you say that you will have it soon bothers me. It makes me think there are some things in there that people won't potentially like and you are re-formulating.

The price is very high. Is it $4 per serving? Are you saying that I need to pay $1 for my scoop of protein powder and then another $4 to turn it into ice cream?

In my opinion, the fact that you launched your website without an ingredient list is telling me that you don't understand your target market at all. Everyone I know that uses protein powder, the first thing that they do when they find a new supplement is turn the container around and read its ingredients. To me, that is the #1 most important piece of your product. I feel it was an afterthought to you and the fact that you filed the trademark 6 months ago first tells me that your priorities aren't right.

My target market is women aged 19 to 34, as they eat the most ice cream :) So the packaging is as such.

Ding ding ding :clench:

...because women who like ice cream buy tons of protein powder and make their own ice cream.

...meanwhile guys who go to crossfit gyms with containers of protein just snort it

I actually would ask the original poster this question seriously...

Do you even lift bro?

Hot damn I missed this thread!

The name has been set

Why, sunk cost fallacy?

Freezing Linda isn't going to appeal to women, especially Linda, and friends of Linda. (Thread tagged appropriately.)

My 2cents,

Drink protein to get stronger? It doesn't quite work that way.

And by using the above-stated sentence you WILL turn away a lot of bodybuilders and athletes like me because just drinking protein doesn't make you stronger. I got the feeling that you don't know what you are talking about. And that is bad, really bad if you want me to buy something I'll eat.

You lost my trust in the first 30 seconds that I heard that.

If you want to go for a more "ordinary" person that doesn't know the details of protein and "getting stronger" that is fine, but if you plan to aim for bodybuilders and athletes you need to change that copy.

Can you create a viral facebook video, something along the "life hacks" type? Seems very suitable.

Please please please make a better video on your website, yes that type of video famously worked for dropbox, but guess what? Its been done to hell and back since then and you are not dropbox. We need to see this stuff work, we need a video of ice-cream actually being made. Good luck my friend

Wonderful feedback. I'll look at upgrading my hosting speeds in the future. I have an intellectual property attorney that I am working with, so I appreciate all of your feedback regarding retaining sole owner of concept. Can you elaborate on execution, since I have still yet to launch? Thanks :) Really appreciate it!

Thanks for your feedback, very helpful. I have taken off the testimonials page for now, and I have changed from FREE PRIZES to FREE SAMPLES.

I love the Facebook approach I will certainly look into that soon!

Regarding the colors, I got feedback from women aged 19 to 34 at my gym. So I'm hoping the small sample group will suffice for this demographic.

Lastly, I completely agree that I will need to continue R&D to seek out more accessible and tasty protein ideas!

Thank you so much for your support,
-James

Extremely valid point, very good feedback. I am omitting my ingredients for now because of the gap/new category, hence my first to market approach. Therefore regarding confidentiality I believe, pre-launch, is necessary and is what my heart is leaning toward. The product is fully completed and had a successful sample run. It is now in the manufacturing stage.

Your pricing is correct. After scale I will be able to possibly lower the price.

Thanks :)

Great feedback! Updating the video is a very high priority. Thank you!
