This is a big one for me. I've spent a good amount of time on Google Maps hahaha.

I can't think of much else that I would want to spend money that I have left over after investing or saving on.

Luxury automobiles? Big houses? A bunch of stuff? Not really a big deal for me.

I believe travel provides the ultimate sense of freedom, adventure, lifelong memories/experiences/friends, learning opportunities that are priceless, and so much more.

Man...

Has anyone here traveled extensively? Care to share some stories?

When I am done raising my children I will be a nomad, until the day I die. I want to see every corner of the world. As much as I can. I have already scratched off many places on my bucket list. I categorize them by continent. I have been to North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa. I have also been to the Middle East (Dubai, Abu Dhabi... As well as Kuwait and Iraq when I was in the military)

I still have Australia and Antarctica left of the 7 continents. All of these places I have been to before the age of 30. I plan to hit Australia in fall of 2014 and Antarctica, remains to be seen- you can only get there by cruise ship- but I have to lay my eyes on it, in person.

I love Europe. I love everything about it- the food, people, architecture, history, etc. I have been to a few different countries in Europe so far. London England being one of my favorite places in Europe- as well as one of my favorite places that I have ever traveled to period.

I want to see many more places. Travel and food are really the only things that get me excited, and the only things I don't mind paying lots of money for.

I wish I could win a free trip somewhere!

Other places I want to go: Italy, Russia, Sweden, Bora Bora, Thailand, Greece, Monte Carlo, Brazil, India, Iceland, Egypt, and Barcelona to name a few. I am very curious about all of the people (especially), places, and food.

My Stories are for adults and most people wouldn't believe the stories anyway. Most of my travel was with the U.S. military and loved every single place I went to.
I have been back to Thailand several times. My wife is Thai by the way.
I love the Orient. My suggestion is to be respectful and speak in level tones. Here is a secret, the world speaks English.
Bring a Poncho, Bring a Camera, Bring Tissues, Hand sanitizer, Try to travel light. Don't talk about politics and religion.

I placed highly in science fairs/engineering fairs/computing contests when I was younger. Saw the whole world and got "paid" (scholarships) to do it. I'd advise a fastlane plan that incorporates that into the work, if that's you're goal.

Traveling is something that I love to do... I even love to take road trips here in the U.S. I like driving, seeing new places, flying, etc. I live in an area where planes approach the airport, though it is far enough out where they don't make a lot of noise. I just get to see them and imagine that I'm going somewhere... lol.

I've spent a lot of time in Mexico, Belize, and the U.K. I used to want to live in Mexico long-term, and still kind of do, but the security situation there is nothing like it used to be 10+ years ago.

My favorite place is Edinburgh, Scotland... it's so beautiful. I would live there right this minute if I could, and someday I will.

Experiencing a new country is awesome, but don't forget that there are amazing experiences to be had here in the U.S :)

Hahaha, I wish. Get a sailboat and learn the skills needed to sail, get food/water and maintain the boat, then you're set.

I've read some blogs on people who chose to live in sail boats. I even read a comment on a post of one of the big media sites in the business section. Some guy apparently invented something while living in a boat, an acoustic device I think. He became a millionaire from it but decided to live the boat lifestyle still.

The boat lifestyle could be fun for a while but maybe not, I need to try it ;)

I will be a nomad

I feel like I have a nomadic instinct lol. I don't care too much about stuff, just practical things except maybe great clothes/accessories (good style helps in social environments), and I just want to keep moving.

Wow Europe sounds awesome. I feel like I could live in Europe, it's just that I've never been there so I need to find out myself haha.

Antarctica will probably give you a weird feeling. You'll also be able to see the stars WAY better than anywhere else :) This video makes me want to go so I can see the stars that clear.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9d8wWcJLnFI

That's a nice list of places. When you start traveling a lot again you should start a travel/food blog, it'll be my motivation :D Extra motivation actually, I'm already motivated ;)

Where in Europe are you if you don't mind me asking?

I bet there are plenty of spots in Europe you'd love ;)

Still, Brazil would be awesome. Olympics take place in Rio for 2016 too!

My best friend from HS and back to the 5th grade actually is in the USMC. He's been to Guam, South Korea, Japan, Philippines and maybe a few other islands.

He's had some fun man ;) I'd believe you...care to share? haha

Thanks for the tips too!

No doubt, there are plenty of states I'd love to visit or live in.

I don't know about Mexico, well maybe Cabo San Lucas lol. Scotland sounds interesting though, I have ancestral roots there apparently so I'd love to be there. Spain is the biggest place I am drawn to though for Europe at least.

Haha, well I think you'd like this video. Check it out :)

I wouldn't say that I've traveled extensively, but I have lived in two very different foreign countries for extended periods of time. I've also visited 7 different countries this year (and possibly a couple more over Christmas), though regrettably, all were short-term stays.

When I consider freedom, location independence is really the big one for me. Being able to go where you want, when you want is pretty powerful, even if you don't often take advantage of it. I don't really focus on object much these days since they all end up being so transient. Experiences can last the rest of your life and have the added benefit of actually changing you (hopefully for the better).

There are the stories of astronauts having life-altering shifts in perspective after seeing the earth from orbit, and I think people can get a small taste of that by integrating themselves into a very different culture. However, I don't think you don't really get that sort of shift from short-term, vacation-style travel. If everyone spent a year living and working in a very different country, we'd live in a much more understanding, open-minded world.

Travel to unique places I would like to vacation is one thing. I really enjoy leaving the country to go place I know I will love. Like buying a home in the caribbean has always been a dream of mine. Traveling the world just to "experience other cultures" no matter how shitty they are is something im not interested in.

I know a lot of people who travel to shitstains of the world just so they can be self rightous and talk about how shitty people have it in Uzbekistan.

This is not for me. Id rather do what I like. Eat what I like and experience what I like.

That said I am not some America dwelling wuss with no passport either. I would happily go, and even live, somewhere else if it gave me a significant advantage or was something I loved.

I already feel like im running out of places id really like to visit.

I love traveling. I've been quite a bit recently. Singapore, Cambodia, and within Thailand (Krabi, and just returned from Koh Tao)

Snapped this pic on Koh Nang Yuan off of Koh Tao about 6 - 7 days ago.

Two guys here that travel extensively are BioPhase and Snowbank. Antartica, Iceland, Africa, whatever exotic locale is out there, they will hit it. According to their FB, they're in Brazil right now.

I'm in this camp. For some reason, I just can't get into it. (Actually, I loathe the actual travel time to the destination, airports, planes, crowds, etc.) Until I can reasonably afford to fly privately, I like to avoid travel unless it's 2 hours or less by commercial plane. My Fastlane focus is too make my home a vacation resort so vacationing is not necessary.

I compare commercial flying to taking the bus. It really sucks nowadays to fly anywhere. The whole experience of something that used to be a semi enjoyable precursor to a vacation has now been pretty much ruined.

I get zero enjoyment out of waiting to be picked up, waiting to check in, waiting in the security line, waiting at my gate, waiting on the tarmac, listening to the same line of bullshit safety advisories, waiting for the plane to taxi around, flying economically slow while sitting crammed next to people you don't know and waiting through customs with all of the same smelly people you were on the plane with. Then comes the rental car desk, total shit, extremely long waits.

The whole process sucks.

There is probably a hyperspeed fastlane for someone who can make one of those problems just a little better.

Private aviation may completely change my perspective on travel.

Not even remotely interested in world travel. I've become a creature of habit and spend 3-4 weeks per year at the same destination which is my own version of paradise. Only takes one to two hours to fly there which is an huge plus. I don't get hopping on a plane for 18 hours unless for some reason there is a significant pay day attached to it.

About the only thing that would interest me is diving in some other parts of the world that offer different sea life than what we see in the carribean / bvi.

Get a clear card ( www.clearme.com ) and a global entry ( www.globalentry.gov ) membership. It's a significant time saver. Security lines are usually less than two minutes and skipping customs lines is nearly priceless.

Just to toss it out there, almost all of the negativity involved with the actual traveling (I really hate planes/airports too) becomes insignificant when you actually live in a different country for some non-vacation period of time. If you're staying somewhere for a couple of months or more, the travel is a pretty insignificant portion of your life. Ideally, I'd like to relocate somewhere new every year or so.

“Traveling is a fool's paradise. Our first journeys discover to us the indifference of places. At home I dream that at Naples, at Rome, I can be intoxicated with beauty, and lose my sadness. I pack my trunk, embrace my friends, embark on the sea, and at last wake up in Naples, and there beside me is the stern fact, the sad self, unrelenting, identical, that I fled from. I seek the Vatican, and the palaces. I affect to be intoxicated with sights and suggestions, but I am not intoxicated. My giant goes with me wherever I go.â€

- Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Life isn't about finding yourself.
Life is about creating yourself." - George Bernard

World travel big dream? naaah

Ofcourse I would like to be travelling around some different countries, but nothing big.
It's not something, which is a big priority for me..
Only countries which I would travel in for the moment europe or USA not really anything else...

Besides I rather focus right NOW on my life on how to become the best version of myself, escaping the rat race, saving some money up, developing different skills, finding some passions.

I rather first find a good location with great weather, people, something that supports my ideal/dream lifestyle so that it would be NORMAL for me to live where I want to live :)

I've traveled and lived overseas due to my dad's job.

Some of the places I have lived overseas: Luanda, Angola. Johannesburg, South Africa and London, England. I lived in Kew Gardens in the U.K which is a small suburb outside of London, the tube is fairly nearby and connects to other places in the metropole.

Some of the places I've traveled to: Cape Town, South Africa. Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. Zanzibar. Mombasa, Kenya. Harare, Zimbabwe. Brussells, Belgium. Strasbourg, Paris, Nice (all in France) Lisbon, Portugal. Vancouver, Canada.

I have yet to go to South America, Asia and the Caribbean.
