By social media I mean marketing my work under my pen name. Setting up a facebook and or twitter account to communicate to or with those that may really like (or hate) my work. I'm not particularly keen on it but if there are those that see a benefit from it, I'm all ears.
I'd be interested on any thoughts on this too. It seems from the wisdom shared so generously by Held for Ransom and others that the best use of our time is to write more stories. Still, I'm debating spending a very minor bit of time on the social media stuff too. Maybe the secret is to not let it become an absolute time sink. For example, if you post one Facebook update and one tweet a day, is that enough? So hard to say...
One thing though, I've made sure to snag the Facebook, Twitter, and URLs for my primary pen name, if only to make sure no one else snags them.
It really is hard, though, to find the time for everything, especially if you still have a slowlane job (which I do too).
