This seems like it's for focus, right?

Caffeine does it for me. 16ounces of light rosted coffee combined with trance music at 6am and I'm set for the next 6-12 hours.

This looks awesome...is it illegal? I mean obviously it's prescription only, but what are the consequences?

This reminds me of adderall, but better. They say its for sleeping troubles? I suffered an extreme concussion a few months ago, missed 2.5 months of school, and was prescribed melatonin and ambient for sleep...I wonder if something like this would be an option for me? I wouldn't say I have terrible sleeping troubles, but I am not normally tired until like 2,3,4 in the morning...I guess that's a problem and could be considered "irregular". What do you guys think about my situation?

Edit:

Does the guy in the video have a prescription, or is he getting it under the table?

There's special forums for nootropics. But I wouldn't suggest playing with this kind of stuff though, never know the side effects and risks.

Most important asset is your health, I would never risk that just to do better in school/etc.

I would personally never use a drug that has been on the market for less than 5 years, unless it is a life or death situation. The drugs and devices you see on the law firm commercials all the time....I think that's what those are lol. In short, if its marketed as a dietary supplement I would use caution.

Interesting topic nonetheless.

I've been playing around with using nicotine and aniracetam to aid in habit formation... some really interesting possibilities.

Piracetam is a very popular nootropic that was talked about quite a bit on supplement forums I used to frequent. I've yet to try it but the reviews seem favorable.

The member Lights recommended me piracetam some time ago. We don't have access to piracetam in Canada. But come on, drugs can F*ck your brain man. I'm sure you can have permanent brain damage.

You can do it and document your results so I don't have to. I'm not willing to put my body at risk like that.

I read an interesting article earlier today about a man who talked about his use of Provigil, and he supplemented it with Piracetam. From the way he talked he seemed about 75ish percent confident about Provigil, but he seemed 95+ percent sure about Piracetam and suggested that if you are new to nootropics to try Piracetam first.

I use Piracetam a lot, but, not every single day. It's hard to explain how it works, it's obviously not like in the movie Limitless, however, I notice increased concentration, thinking quicker on my feet, and more confidence all around. It helps to find answers that would otherwise be at the tip of your tongue. Memories that may have been forgotten about could also surface. When I listen to music, I become more aware of it-not sure how to explain it, it's just more enjoyable. It definitely adds a pep to my step.

Piracetam does not give you a buzz of any kind, its effects are subtle, there is no racing heart. It is not a magic bullet, but simply something in addition to caffeine, at least for me. I take a half teaspoon three times a day when I use it.

It has been studied for decades and is very safe. So I'm not worried about any adverse effects.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

PS. I'm very interested in trying modafinil (provigil's generic), however, it's prescription only and very pricey. Apparently they give it to military pilots so they can fly sorties for 48-72 hours without sleep and not feel fatigue.

1. Isn't Piracetam prescription only as well? It definitely seems that way after looking for places to buy online.

2. Are there any trustworthy sites you can recommend to buy from?

3. Why do you take it in powder over pill form? Is it cheaper?

How do you get your Piracetem? Do you think that taking it daily would cause problems you are avoiding by not using it daily?

Also, there are plenty of sites around that sell Modafinil off prescription for something like 3-4$ per pill...are you worried they aren't legit?

Just curious, from your experience using it...do you think that using it for school/studying/typing papers/working out/business stuff would be a good use? In other words would I get a positive effect from using it for those activities?

I also might try Modafinil once I read more reviews and do some more research on it

Back in college I had to take an Econometrics course which I found incredibly difficult. So I hired a tutor... after failing the midterm my tutor said "It's going to be hard for you to pass this course."

So I fired him and started experimenting with adderall, ritalin, and dexedrine. From personal experience I think Dexedrine is by far the best brain drug out of the 3. Made me focus on whatever I needed to for the whole day, felt no jittery feeling, no problem sleeping. Only side effect was slight loss in appetite and it made me really horny. Helped me stay hard in bed for an hour.

I ended up with a A- in the course, getting only 1 question wrong on the final... oh how I wish I still had my supply of Dexedrine.

Agreed. Stuff is rocket fuel. For those of you who don't know-- it's basically prescription cocaine. It's really addictive and hard to get (I've round). But yeah... great stuff. STAY AWAY!!! :D

Could you elaborate on the effects and/or positive & negatives in your usage?

The bullet proof executive has some good write-ups on it.

Modaf is relatively subtle compared with adderral and stimulants-- it doesn't crack you out. It's really clean. If you have a big task-- like write an essay-- and you have a clear vision on how to get it done, and you pop 100-200MG, you'll find nothing special occurrs except the chances of you clicking over to MJ's forum or Facebook dramatically go down. You find youself looking up after 2 hours having worked.

I've heard reports of it keeping people up for hours so probably best not to take it at night.

Side effects I've heard are mild headache and mild crabbyness. You don't really want to chat it up with others you want to work!!!

It's relatively easy to get your hands on (compared with stimulants), it's non-addictive, and does the trick. More powerful than supplementy stuff like fish oil, piractam, etc.

Thanks for the reply Tropic! I think it could really help with my studies, and the sleep could be a bonus, I stay up for 2 days straight, in that time do the next nights homework, and then sleep from 11 to 9 the 3rd night to catch up on sleep. The focus would be the biggest factors for me, I'm really a smart kid, I just need motivation to get down to it!

Wow...this thread got a lot of traction while I was away! Here's more resources for folks interested in researching (which I strongly recommend...this is your brain you're playing with!).

Nootropics

Nootropic Stacks - LONGECITY

BrainMeta.com Forum -> Cognitive Enhancers

http://www.erowid.org/smarts/

Most nootropics have extremely low toxicity, are non-addictive, and actually act to protect the brain from damage (such as from neurodegenerative diseases). Most of the research on these is based around treatments for Alzheimer's, dementia, and the like...but many of them can not only help a diseased brain function normally, but help a healthy brain function better!

There's a lot of bro-science and self-experimentation going on, but the risk is relatively low if you're halfway careful. I know I'll be experimenting with a lot of these over the coming months, so I'll be sure to report back my findings. This is my first foray into this area, so I'm excited to see what's possible.

Not illegal, they just can't say it will make you smarter, they have to sell it as a supplement or something along those lines.

I have bought twice from here, Piracetam Cognitive Powder the 1 lbs bag lasts me about 4 months.

It is cheaper and the shitty taste is a reminder on why you are working hard to get to where you want to be :)

I don't think taking it daily would cause problems, I just tend to taper off of it every few weeks, because it just gets tedious after a while, taking so many powders, supplements, vitamins, etc..

I do worry, but I have seen at least one site, the one mentioned by tropicalguy that has great reviews.

Perhaps, many people often report not feeling anything, however, many don't realize you should take it for at least two weeks because it's effects are cumulative and not instant after one dose. You won't know until you try.

Perhaps, many people often report not feeling anything, however, many don't realize you should take it for at least two weeks because it's effects are cumulative and not instant after one dose. You won't know until you try.

You also may need to supplement with choline (found in various forms as supplements, but also available in red meat, dairy, and eggs) while taking it, or else you may actually get headaches and foggier than usual. Here's a good thread with some smart folks hypothesizing about why some people don't get any results from Piracetam:

Piracetam non-responders - Brain Health - LONGECITY

Personally, I'm going to start with daily Noopept and Modafinil on an as-needed basis (that one has a tendency to build tolerance), and see what that does for me...then I'll start experimenting with Aniracetam, Choline, Alpha GPC, sulbutiamine, etc...

Everyone has unique brain chemistry, and it's a matter of figuring out what works for you, and what balances everything out to get your brain working at optimum levels. As someone diagnosed with ADD, I'd tried things like adderal and ritalin before, and they were very harsh and personality-altering...I found them unsettling. The nootropics sound far more subtle and offer an ability to tune your response, so I'm hoping to find a balance of focus, memory, and creativity that allows me to perform better overall.

Just got my first order of Noopept. Came quicker than I thought! Took 20mg with some Vitamin C (since I'm fighting off a cold), acetyl l-carnitine, fish oil for Omega 3s, all taken with a big glass of green tea for caffeine and l-theanine.

I'll report my results, but i don't expect too much since it's my first dose, and I've heard reports that the effects are cumulative...also, the order I got today was in capsules, and the most effective administration is sublingual, so I don't think I'll get the best results from swallowing them.

If anyone here live in Canada and know how to get provigil or piracetam, please let me know. I have a terrible illness (some of you obviously saw my thread on it) and maybe nootropics would be the solution. Can a psychiatrist prescribe it?

Loving these replies, especially after a long day of travel!

I'm glad to hear you don't think it will be a problem to take it daily.

Here are my next few questions:

- How would daily work? I read somewhere that they last like 12-14 hours...but I have school from 9-4 daily, workout from 5-7:30 and do homework from like 8ish to anywhere from 12 to as late as 4....I want to be intent in school with good test taking, note taking, understanding, etc, and that would overlap with my workout which would be good, but what about my studying/business stuff at night? I want to stay up all night with it and make my studying and business stuff good too, would that require 2 pills a day?

- What do I need to pair it with? Right now I am thinking Piracetam, Provigil, and my normal Multi Vitamin, Vitamin C, and Fruits and Vegetables vitamins, but what else? Cholin, Vitamin D, Fish Oil? Not sure what to do there...or maybe I don't need both Piracetam and Provigil, although because of my serious track sheet of concussions it might be necessary to use Piracetam for the memory, and Provigil for the other effects...

- I know no one will obviously be able to give me an exact answer but I'd like to ask anyways...what would happen if I got caught? Whether it be by my school, my friends, my parents...would they be mad? disappointed? Would i lose academic credibility? Obviously kids hide more serious drugs from their parents than Nootropics, and I live in a dorm 8 months out of the year so it wouldn't be hard to hide at all...but in the extreme situation I do get caught...then what?

I'd also have to figure out ordering it...a random charge on my credit card bill could possibly rase alarm to my parents...maybe they can do discrete ordering, or I could have them load some money onto a debit card for me, or I could buy a prepaid, or someone else could get it for me. Wow I just solved my own question by typing :p

Heh...Nicotine is excellent for habit formation. Probably not the best habits, per say...but it works like a champ. :p
