This thread and Jack Edwards thread on starting a business are some of the best, most educational things I've ever read. Thanks!

MJ put this on your testimonials for all the haters that come here and say no one has ever came to this forum or read your book THEN became successful.

Yeah this story is dripping with motivation and inspiration, and is an added testament to the value of MJ's book.

Rob; I know this just happened and everything, and you probably want some time to take in all the new changes, the partnership and all. But out of curiosity - do you have any future projects in mind to start working on after the dust settles?

I can't tell you how this makes me feel, to have a tiny part of someone else's paradigm, life-changing shift.

The thing is, all I did was illuminate a roadmap and show someone step 1, in a 10 step process. Steps 2,3,4,5,6,7,8, and 9 is all on the entrepreneur. Those steps can ONLY be conquered by ACTION.

Notice how this story had MULTIPLE FAILURES which is exactly the process you should expect.

There would be no success story if after the first try and Rob said "Eh, this Fastlane shit is a bunch of baloney" -- to do so, would be a denial of process and process is what makes these things happen.

I unofficially launched a very quiet private PAID FOR beta and was overwhelmed with the response and very soon had to close the doors to new people.

Also notice how the success was PRODUCT and DEMAND driven.

The product and the conveyance of value is so critical in the equation.

The result? Instead of YOU chasing money... money CHASES you.

I would like to add that this wasn't my first business venture.

I have tried and failed 3 times before.

Also, while all this was going on I thought I had the Midas touch and invested in a property deal which went wrong. VERY wrong and nearly ended everything for me!

The only advice I would really give is a bit cliche; give it a try. If it doesn't work, learn from that and try something different next time.

Well according to this forecast I am right on schedule.

This success story of his just reminded me of the much stressed and talk part of TMF ' book - PROCESS (tenacity of purpose) and what people see and celebrate (EVENT)

Thumb up dude!

Yup, and sadly, that part of the book is often the most maligned ... WTF is this? Accountability? Process? Decision making? Tell me how to make money!!!! Give me the juice, not this "process vs event" shit! :p

Not Sure I follow you @MJ DeMarco, but I've not been on the forum that long. Are you inferring the naysayers just want it laid out on a plate for them rather than having to grind out the work and take responsibility for their decisions and actions (or lack of action)?

Yes Rob. That's exactly what he means. That's why the so called "Gurus" do so well. Because people think their getting the answer to wealth and happiness handed to them. No one wants to hear that you actually have to work really hard for a long period of time and there's a possibility you might fail and have to start all over again. Who wants to do all the work when you can just buy a book that tells you invest in this then in this and soon you'll have all the riches in the world. Lol

To cut a long story short...

Fast forward a few months...

I think I've answered most of the questions there, if anyone wants to know anything else, please just ask. I can't go into too much detail about the deal, but other than that just shoot.

Cheers
Rob

Thank you so much for sharing this. I bet there is a demand for hearing the "long story" that goes into more details about the process (including failures, setbacks, etc.) without getting into the deal, of course. Screenshots of analytics, specs, etc. If you wrote an ebook like that I'd snap it up no question. I think there's a real hunger for that kind of substantive info. But this kind of ebook project probably wouldn't be profitable use of your time though, considering it wouldn't appeal to the mass market that eats up all the "12 Success Principles I Learned from Steve Jobs and Oprah Winfrey" glurge that gets churned out by people who have never met either. Maybe you could write it just for personal satisfaction??? :) Anyway congratulations and thanks again.

Thanks for sharing your story. Great stuff!
After a few bad outsourcing experiences I was lucky enough to find an Ozzy guy who is absolutely brilliant at LAMP development and server admin, if anybody needs that sort of service, PM me and I will put you in touch.
I might in the near future. I'll pm you for info after I get my idea fully sketched out.

...but that's the beauty of being in the Fastlane. You then have time to do whatever you want ... and it doesn't have to be profitable.

Wow this is a great success story man, I'm from the "affiliate marketing world" so WRW is always within my radar and I've heard about the acquisition, just didn't think it was built by someone on the forums!

Kudos on the success man, like Eskil, I'm also wondering what other plans you have down the road, it would be exciting to hear!

Congratulations Rob for your excellent results.
I read about Mobile Ad Spy on TechCrunch and I knew Max Teitelbaum at an IM event, a very great and smart talent.
I am happy you are a member of this board.

I like this story because you just took action and didn't look back. Business is a tough field but at the same time people who are action oriented get a huge advantage. Most people just talk and procrastinate, will never move and eventually quit. Congratulations!
