I just noticed that there 398 users signed up on the forum right now.

There were about 150 when I started, and it doesn't seem that long ago. Congratulations MJ on building and maintaining such a cohesive and growing community.

Anyone want to call it on what day we'll hit 400? I say by the end of today (Thanksgiving Day)

I really wish I would have looked at the # of users when I signed up.

Chuck, you are user #310. To find out anyone's user number, click on their USERID to view their profile. The link will say "u=301" - the u = is the # when you joined.

I was thinking the same thing. In fact, I was wondering the other day if there might be some way to show each person's 'member number'. That way, when the site is huge, we can be recognized as the originals.

Kinda silly but I must admit, I take some pride in it. :)

I can do this eventually, its a pretty easy mod. :smxB:

Looks like 300 and 400 were a lot easier than 500 .... gonna have to STRETCHHHHHHHH for it! Without the lure of sig-pimping post whores, conspiracy theorists, self-promotion marketers and the like, its a tough road to acquire quality users! We shall get there!!!

I've seen many people registering lately AFTER being lurking for quite some time. I am sure there are many that just read and do not register as they feel they will have nothing to add. It is hard to break the fear of making mistakes and look foolish, especially when we have a tough crowd here. We love giving 'tough love' and calling B.S. when needed. In any case, I prefer quality over quantity.

Funny you think it's a tough crowd - generally, there is a kindness to the correction. I've seen a few flamer comments, but not many, and certainly a lot less than other forums.

I tend to agree with andviv's statement. It seems that the subscription rate of this site falls right in line with many people's "subscription" to a fastlane thought pattern. I would imagine for many people surfing the web for wealth building tactics, this site may be a bit of a reality check. To read stories, and testimony that so many widely-accepted tools are slow-lane options can be pretty tough to accept for someone who has been caught in the rat race for a while. Many may read some of the slow-lane principles as explained on this site and realize that they had been promoting those ideas in their own life. Those principles being get some stocks, get a good job with company x, save for retirement NOW, etc.

For me, and I imagine many on-lookers of this site, the first barrier to break is the one that causes us to make excuses and justify our current situation...realizing we were stuck a slow lane way of thinking, and we need to change our perspective on money in nearly every regard.

I know all about the "fear" of posting. I'm a serial lurker. This is the only forum that has ever got my attention. For me to post personal stuff (financial stuff!!), sometimes makes me think that I must be crazy. But the fact that I post on here truely refelcts the caliber of the people on the forum. I feel that there is a huge sense of trust here.

I'm proud to be user #200

Its kinda disheartening that the last 6 joins we've had, 3 are banned spammers.

Growing pains. All it means is that word is getting out!

Exactly. That means that this site is making its way into search engines.

Protect the sign up form with a captcha (I dont remember if theres one already) and that should be enough.

Cheers!
