Hey everyone,
I’m Lukas, 31, from Germany. I knew pretty early that the traditional path wasn’t for me.
When I was around 10, my brother and I watched a group of construction workers on their lunch break. They were overweight, smoking, eating greasy sausage sandwiches, complaining about their boss and looking like they were slowly digging their own graves.
To us as kids, that scene looked like absolute horror. We basically made a pact that day:
We never want to end up like that.
Not because there’s anything wrong with construction work. It was just my first real glimpse of what adult life could look like: a job you hate, a boss you complain about, lunch break as the highlight of the day, then waiting for the weekend and the next vacation.
And I remember thinking very clearly: Not for me!
That feeling never really went away. The funny part is, I knew very early what I didn’t want — but had absolutely no clue how to build the opposite.
So while trying to figure out how to build something of my own, I tried to make the traditional path work a little more in my favor.
Today I have a job where I basically get paid to hang out with young people, play PlayStation, organize fun activities — or, on some days, do almost nothing if I don’t feel like it.
For a while, I thought I had hacked the system a little.
But did I really?
Compared to many jobs, I really can’t complain. But honestly, I don’t really feel like I’m making a meaningful difference in my current job. And at the end of the day, I’m still trading my time for money.
I want to create real value and eventually build a life on my own terms.
I’m a creative person and I’ve had more business ideas than I can count. But looking back, I spent way too much time asking what I would enjoy creating and not enough time asking what other people actually need.
That’s what I want to change.
I also live in a small town and don’t really have many people around me who are interested in entrepreneurship or building something outside the usual path. That’s one of the main reasons I joined this forum.
I’m hoping to learn from people who are further along, challenge some of my own thinking and finally turn all those ideas into something useful in the real world.
Looking forward to getting to know you guys.
Lukas
