Hi,

Cannot believe the value on this forum! I ironically have chased money ( the cat!) since 14 years old. I was making $90/hr at 16 with one side hustle. I have had several different businesses that have netted $100k/year in profit but they were trades JOBS. That's what my family did that was the only option I felt capable of. SO much programming as outlined in Unscripted! Yes,that was a part of that but I also have profound hearing loss,(90%) so learning new skills was really tough. So I hustled, overworked, and grinded! Turned into a raging alcoholic, was going to kill myself one night but had a spiritual experience in the middle of it. Went to AA never once believing I could do it, but 80 days into sobriety , attended my best friends widows wedding in an all inclusive resort with unlimited free alcohol always within every 20 yards or so.... never drank a drop. I said if I could do that why would anything be harder?
Met a 72 year old guy who knew he had cancer and a year or two to live in AA, also profoundly deaf like me to the point hearing aids no longer worked but by lip reading and putting muffled sounds together could function to a limited degree like me. He really encouraged me to get a Cochlear Implant. I did. ( People who realize the ship of life is almost sunk are very persuasive and have a mysterious almost eery sense of clarity about them). Learning to hear and process sounds again for the first time like a baby was wild! Was an intense year long process, but with the cochlear implant I am at almost 90% of normal hearing now!!!!
Work was dragging me down so I sold my business. Wasn't much to it so not a big sale. Covid hit and my plans didn't work out. Spiralled massively mentally as the reality of the state of the world hit me. Spiralled further, got fed up and moved across country to Vancouver Island out of my non compete area. Picked up the tools and went back to the job I despised but paid the bills. Realized I was back in the same rut so started to listen to Audiobooks while at work. Decided chasing money the trades was getting me nowhere. My life was basically going to be my life.
I decided well what the hell, may as well make the most of it so listened to Robin Sharma's " The Wealth Money Can't Buy". He recommended ten books to heal financially. One was " The Millionaire Fastlane". I read all ten books recommended and the "The Millionaire Fastlane" really impacted me. Read "Unscripted"got goosebumps and even cried a little lol. Joined the forum bought or listened to almost all the books on the reading list of 100.
So here I am in the process of shifting my mindset at 39 years old, 6.5 years sober and living in paradise on the West Coast. So excited and grateful to find this community and eager and hungry to learn from you guys!
