After a few years of hard work and sacrifices, I bought one of my "dream" cars last year, when I purchased the Dodge Viper (a 96' RT/10) I have been lusting after since I was 10 years old.
However....
My DREAM car is and always has been a Lamborghini. From the Countach to the LP640, I love the brand and every model holds a special place in the line-up to me. I fell in love with them when I was 4 years old, after an older cousin of mine came to Thanksgiving dinner wearing a black Countach -T-shirt. I remember staring at the picture on that shirt, and being mesmorized by the image of the coolest looking vehicle I had ever seen. Today at 27 years old, the Gallardo and Murcielago continue to excite me the exact same way, and I can say with certainty that I WILL own one in the future.
I will say though, that I have been "close" to a position where I could purchase a used Lambo in the last year, but to the point where it would take everything I have. For me, that is not the way I would like that dream to unfold. I dont want to "stretch" to afford something that is out of my means, or empty my bank account to drive a car I have no business driving. Retiring early and the life of financial freedom is what I want. All of the "rewards" (cars, vacations, big houses, toys, etc.) will come later, and will escalate ONLY when the passive income from my investments allow it. Until then I will continue to live below my means and delay gratification.
I would MUCH rather live in my modest little NJ home with no mortgage and all my bills paid off, and be able to sleep in whenever I want from week to week, then "stretch" to live in a mansion with a mortgage I worry about paying from month to month, while commuting down New Jerseys highways at 7:30AM M-F. I WANT the life MJ speaks of...where instead of working for my money, my money works for ME.
Everything else takes a backseat to that, as the "fastlane" encompasses the lifestyle I strive to attain.
Glad to see so many car enthusiasts on the board! Some of our members have great taste! :fastlane:
