OK this was an article i wrote for Inspyur and thought it would be good sharing it here. I will sum up the major points.
- We love buying books to add on our wall shelf but hardly read them all cover-to-cover.
- Most books exaggerate and are repetitive, something that could be said in 100 pages is 250 pages long.
- Most books tell you of problems and give poor solutions. Knowing you need to do something is one thing but knowing how to do it is another thing. After reading many books you wouldn't know what to do
- Most books go into MBA style courses and are suited towards executives at large companies not start ups.
- Reading irrelevant stuff adds to INFORMATION OVERLOAD.
In conclusion, not all books suck but majority do and people just don't know what to read. You should only read books in the areas which you will be working on.
