Had asthma really bad back in the day, hospitalized a few dozen times (Children's Hospital), ICU the whole bit, anywhere from a day to a week. Had appendicitis stayed in the hospital for a week or so on that occasion too.
Always felt like a rockstar showing up in the Emergency room which is always packed to capacity, because when the nurse asks you (or in that instance, a parent) what is wrong, all you got to do is say 'asthma' and they take you in faster than you can take your coat off.
Everyone else would give me the evil glare since they've been sitting there for hours, but considering I could hardly breathe, I was always grateful to be taken in immediately.
As for the past few years.. maybe interacted with 8 or so doctors/specialists who couldn't have been more awesome.
Canada gets a bad rap for the socialized medicine.. but the docs seem to be friendly at least lol.
