I am pretty sure there is a guy here on the forum who has a company or a site that does that.

Where is the best place to meet or be discovered by a venture capitalist?

By focusing on what VC's are attracted to. It boils down to my cat analogy: Cat's aren't attracted to humans, they're attracted to humans with tuna. Likewise, VC's are attracted to humans with products that can add value, and make money.

Have a product that VCs want and they call you -- you don't call them.

Take for example the education site Lynda ... self-funded and grown ... you think they are having trouble contacting VCs? Or are VCs breaking down their door? Stop pushing for VCs, pull for them.

Agreed, you could pay people to help make an intro or randomly show up at their door but wouldn't you agree without something really good you would be wasting your time anyway?

People invest in people not just companies. If you have a company with traction it helps prove yourself more than anything. Things dont get easier just because someone throws money at you, people need to understand that. People do not want to invest in a person/vision with 0 execution becuase it shows what you will get done if they gave you money. If you cant make something happen with $1, you cant make it happen with $1M or you will just be inefficient with it anyway.
