When to quit

I have been working on an idea for a few weeks and today have found someone else working on basically the same thing. Their execution is good, though not perfect, and I can perceive some addition added value. Is it worth trying to enter a market as the late coming or simply best to go back to the drawing board?

Thanks for your comments. My heart sank when i saw what was on offer. However, after a fair bit of head scratching i think i might have come up with something even better. Thanks for the support.
