I would like to know of any book, video, or other resource that does an exceptional job of explaining website design DOs and DONTs, particularly for a matching website [Think: AirBnB, Dating Sites, etc.]. Any useful recommendations greatly appreciated. Thank you.

What have you found in your research so far?

Is there something you could contribute before asking for something in return?

Yes, I found a book called 'How to Make Friends & Influence People.' You should read it.

Really good book! There is a great part about seeing things from the other's perspective. In doing so, I'll try to do better with this reply.....

Being new, did you get a chance to go through this thread?
IMPORTANT! - Getting the MOST out of Fastlane (Required Read)

If so, you might see I was trying to ask a few questions to help you get better answers. This is a 'give to get' community. We are here for you. Just want to see you put in some effort or contribute first.

In one of your 1st posts, you asked for the community to give you something. Go through the thread I listed above, then come back here and try again with a new perspective.

Yes, I found a book called 'How to Make Friends & Influence People.' You should read it.
I read the required-reading you recommended and am not sure what specific aspect of it you are referencing. I should note, as well, that I offered in my very first post that I could contribute in the areas of Sales and Writing.
As an example, and in deference to your request, I will offer 1 example of each of these skills.
First, sales. There is a powerful technique in sales known as 'reciprocity'. When someone does something for us we have a natural inclination to want to do something for them in return. This is universal and seen in every culture throughout the globe.
An everyday example of reciprocity can be seen at your local supermarket. I asked a woman at Costco who was handing out free samples if this had any impact on sales. 'Oh yeah,' she said, 'sales go up by 30% or more when we hand out samples.'
Reciprocity.
Thus, a good salesperson reads my post and recognizes the value of the opportunity to be of assistance. Which brings us to my second contribution. This one on Writing. You wrote:
"Is there something you could contribute before asking for something in return".
If you examine this sentence closely you will see that it makes no sense. You implied that I had not conributed anything and thus I could not be asking for anything in return.
Does that make sense?
I hope that both of these examples are helpful and that the sales technique of reciprocity serves you well in the future.
Cheers, RJ
