Good evening folks,
I've been a freelance Web Developer for some time now, building websites from scratch catering to my clients needs. I choose to specialise in a certain area, I find trying to cover all aspects of web development is just too stressful and I'm more prone to making a mistake, for this reason I develop sites for a specific CMS (and not the majority).
I've noticed an area in the market I believe I could make a little extra cash on, however I'm stuck when it comes to pricing. Being a Web Developer you'd think this would be a relatively straight forward plan, unfortunately I'm a little lost.
I've streamlined how I develop my websites so essentially I can create two, maybe three high quality websites a week, complete with their very own unique design currently unavailable anywhere else on the web. I plan on selling ready made, pre-configured websites (Not themes) that require a simple installation to launch, plug and play sites if you will. The idea is to create a range of sites that cater for various needs such as portfolios, E-commerce stores and general service providers.
Each website will also come bundled with a number of free services such as logo customization, installation and unlimited support.
Theme developers currently sell custom themes alone from anywhere between $75 to $800 onwards (redistributable), as I say my websites have their own unique theme design which will not be redistributed, is this something that will add considerable value to my service?
Currently I build websites for a clients specific needs, often using their designs and input - I charge hourly for this. The service I plan to launch is slightly different in the fact it's selling pre-made sites, I'm not creating it for a client in particular, my main concern is scaring away a potential customer due to over-pricing, but then again I don't want to charge too little and become dug under with work.
I'd really appreciate some advice as it's slowly sending me loopy!
