Two monks were arguing about the temple flag waving in the wind.

One monk said, "The flag moves."

The other said, "The wind moves."

Back and forth they argued.

Coming upon them, Hui-neng, the Sixth Patriarch, said, "Monks! It's not the flag that moves. It's not the wind that moves. It's your mind that moves!"

The two monks were awestruck.

I hope the joke above doesn't fall under religion (as those types of posts are banned) because the message is a great one.

Same as in my favorite movie, The Matrix:

Young boy bends spoon with his mind. Neo walks in.
Young boy: "Do not try to bend the spoon, that's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth."
Neo: "What truth?"
Boy: "There is no spoon. Then you will realize that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself."

A vital lesson to learn for everyone who wants to free his/her mind from the confines that plague pretty much everyone. Understand the meaning of the above, and letting go of things that bother you will become much easier. It also symbolizes that we define our own reality, and that we cannot force change to something that can't be changed. Instead, we have to "bend" ourselves, our perceptions, our surroundings so that everything is favorable to our cause.
