Hi All,

I am looking for a list of the Top 10 Business Start Up/Entreprenurship books that should be on the shelf that have influenced your thinking and guided you through business start-up (for in my case an Internet service based business).

I know the lists will vary, but am curious what some of you consider the best of the best books that contributed/aided/guided you in your particular success or journey.

If some of you wouldn't mind posting your Top 10, I would be very appreciative.

Thanks...
Steven

Re: Top 10 Books that influenced you in Start-Up/Entreprenurship?

I will have to search around for the list. I guess what I don't want to do is have over 100 titles presented. I am hoping to see what books repeat in the top 10 - several repeats indicates a must have. In my particular situation, I just want a list of Top 10 of what was absolutely instrumental to get a business off the ground. Think & Grow Rich is one of those type of books.

I took a look at the book section and see that most either fall into a series of reviews or current readings, where I am looking for The Best of the Best that come highly recommended.

Think & Grow Rich I have to agree must be in the Top 10... what about the other 9?

Re: Top 10 Books that influenced you in Start-Up/Entreprenurship?

I just purchased and received How to Get Rich by Felix Dennis. I can't recommend this book enough! I'm only a few chapters in and it's already amazing. And, it's only about $3 on Amazon right now since it was released back in 2007 so the price has come down.

Unlike most business/success book authors, Felix Dennis actually made a fortune through an actual business before writing this book. He's not someone who made his fortune telling other people how to make a fortune like a lot of these business/self-help gurus. He's a legitimate business man who just wants to share some of his thoughts on what it takes to be successful like him.

As you were posting, I actually had found the recommendation on the book from a few members on Felix - reading the Amazon reviews now. Thanks for the recommendation also.

On Friday, I had ordered the "Art of Start". Anyone been through this one and followed recommendations from it?

Re: Top 10 Books that influenced you in Start-Up/Entrepreneurship

I have listened to around 15 books this year, several of them 3-4 times.

The new psycho-cybernetics (the best by far)
the millionaire mind
think and grow rich
The dip
Richest Man in Babylon
4 Laws of Financial Prosperity
Total Money Makeover (has some really good basic steps)
4 hour work week
e-myth
who moved my cheese

Also, I listen to real estate pod casts 2-3 times per week. I listen to a market update weekly.

Rich dad poor dad (got me started, not really in my top favorites now that I have grown mentally and through experience).

Here's my little blurb. I recommend getting audible to download books or going to the library. Why are you wasting all that car time not improving yourself. Most of these books are less then 10 hours to listen to. You probably spend more then that in your car per week. Time to be resourceful on utilize the most precious commodity you have...time!

Re: Top 10 Books that influenced you in Start-Up/Entrepreneurship

First and foremost before any other type of book I highly suggest a good book on Speed Reading. It's all about reading/obtaining as much information as possible. I recommend Kump's Breakthrough Rapid Reading.

Other books I recommend are

The Real Estate developers handbook

The writings of Florence Scovel Shinn.
The four hour workweek

How to be a billionaire

MBA in a box

cash in a flash

make it big by frank mckinney

how to get lots of money for anything fast by stuart lichtman

start small profit big in real estate

disregarding grammatical errors I'm testing out my new copy of Dragon NaturallySpeaking

Atlas Shrugged
The Fountainhead
E-myth revisited
Think and Grow Rich
The Magic of Thinking Big
Blue Ocean Strategy
How to Win Friends and Influence People
Peak Performance Principles for High Achievers
4-Hour Workweek

Not sure if this is exactly my top 10, but these are 10 that come to mind right now.

^i think the 4-hour workweek was made for lazy people who don't want to put in a lot of effort to become successful. Entertaining nonetheless

My Top 5

1.) RDPD - first mainstream 'get rich' book i touched
2.) Think and Grow Rich - The classsic financial success book
3.) Your First 100 Million - Anti-traditional business methods, exponential growth through deals and acquisitions
4.) How to make friends and influence people
5.) 7-habits

Think and Grow Rich
Life's Golden Ticket (a recent edition to my favorite list)

I have read somewhere in the vicinity of 200 some books on business and personal development as well as about 300 on audio CD. In addition to seminars, coaching, and everything else. The list I gave were just some of my favorites. There is a lot of junk out there, but there is a lot of great stuff too.

Rich Dad, Poor Dad
Think and Grow Rich

Those are the main two for me. After I read those, I just kept devouring any other similar title I could get my hands on. Some blur together, some stand out, but mainly I just try to take at least one new idea/technique from each book.

I am really into Seth Godin and related marketing books right now.
