Running both a Short Term Rental business and a Financial Services business has provided me with valuable insights into the importance of listening to the market. In this blog post, I'll share a personal story that highlights the significance of market feedback and the need to adjust our strategies accordingly.
Story of Short Term Rental Business:
As a property manager of my Short Term Rental business, I noticed a decline in occupancy levels. To address this, I experimented with lowering the prices. While there was a slight improvement, it wasn't significant enough. Seeking further assistance, I turned to dynamic pricing services and SEO optimization from Fiverr. The market responded positively to the dynamic pricing updates, but when I implemented the SEO changes, occupancy dropped again. Recognizing the market's message, I promptly reversed the SEO "optimization".
Lessons Applied to Financial Services:
This experience with my Short Term Rental business taught me a valuable lesson about the importance of listening to the market in all aspects of business, including my financial services. Despite my belief in the value I bring, the market has shown that my current approach does not resonate with the intended audience. It's time for me to adjust and pivot towards a new persona for my ideal client.
Conclusion:
Listening to the market is crucial for any business. The market's response, or lack thereof, should guide us to make necessary adjustments and pivot our strategies. Through the lessons learned from my Short Term Rental business, I am reminded of the importance of adapting and aligning with the needs and desires of our target audience. So, let's listen, assess, and adjust to create a better business that truly meets the needs of our clients.
