I don't discuss this in The Millionaire Fastlane , but I do in Unscripted .

It's the concept of the FEEDBACK LOOP and how it generates passion and motivation.

Passion tends to FOLLOW, not LEAD.

While you can be passionate about projects and goals, ultimately the FEEDBACK LOOP is what keeps that passion fired and/or growing.

"Follow your passion" and "do what you love" is bad business advice.

I thought it was time to fully dissect these two syrupy platitudes.

So now anytime I hear the shit-turd "follow your passion" I can send this video.

(And this video also covers Steve Job's use of the phrase "love what you do.")

Not bad, i hadn't ever considered feedback as a positive (emotional) reïnforcement.

however, i did kinda miss the part of merit of enjoying what you do,
maybe that's because you write explicitly to (potential) entrepeneurs,
but i kinda missed the "make sure you can sustain this kind of work(for X time)
without starting to hate it"

oww, here's a nice catch-phrase:
"people love spending money, not earning it"

Damn man, you really opened my eyes in regards to the feedback loop, thinking back at my own life, the things i was always best at. Games / chess / poker etc where the ones I developed the most passion for.

You think hard work is enjoyable 100% of the time?

That mentality will keep you mediocre.

Sure it will be easier to "keep going" if you enjoy the actual grind, but that's not very likely, even if that work is aligned with your meaning and purpose.

For instance, if you love dogs and are in the dog space, the actual GRIND of the work might not be enjoyable. But the outcomes are.

Our passions tell us lies. Feelings lie too. Both emotions color the world with a warped point of view. Only a 3-year-old can get away with following his passion and do only what he loves for more than a hot minute. The rest of us have to use our heads for more than growing our curly locks.

Thank you for this thread MJ. I have two questions:
1.Are there plans to bring TMF /Unscripted into East-European countries (Romania and the rest?)
2. Are you working on another book?

2. Are you working on another book?

Q1: That is dependent on publishing companies in those countries who want to license and translate it.
Q2: Yes, Unscripted , Book 2.
