Adblocker plus helped usher in the end of annoying flashing banner ads, now it seems (or maybe I've just noticed it) that it can block plain text affiliate links, the last time I checked Adblock had about half a billion downloads, that's a huge percentage of internet users and it's growing.

Therefore less and less people are seeing affiliate links, meaning the whole genre (can I call it a genre?) is dying in front of our very eyes, make provisions now!
