My first attempt at starting a new online business was fairly successful in some ways, though the niche I chose had something of a low profit ceiling and I failed at scaling it, so it wasn't quite the success I would have liked it to be. Live and learn. I've racked up a number of failed attempts over the past decade since then, trying to recreate that success through different ideas. Some of those failures really hurt and I've made some big mistakes along the way, I know.
These mistakes have led me to the point where I doubt myself on the right ways to test new ideas. It makes me unsure if I'm choosing the wrong niche, executing wrong, or just testing it wrong - or a combination of those. I've tried throwing up websites to and marketing them to see if they get any engagement and usually get no response. I find myself breaking the monogamy vow mentioned in the book, testing a few ideas at a time. The idea being, whichever idea gets a strong response would be the one I focus heavily on. But I've also tried focusing on one at a time.
What has been the most effective way to test for those who have got an idea to take off? Do you work on only one idea at a time, or multiple? How many of you have gone against the monogamy chapter in the book and still had success? What are some of the best gold nuggets you've learned to effectively test ideas?
