I created some subforums to help differentiate the categories.

Personally, I don't like it.

What do you think?

I don't think its necessary. You already have several "subforum" categories within the original design. I don't see the need for further differentiation for deal analysis, etc.

You have done good work here. Relax and enjoy!:smxF:

Generally speaking, most users prefer easy navigation. That being said, subforums create additional clutter and many posts become stagnant.

Thanks for taking the time to improve the forum MJ. Your initiative deserves kudos.

IMHO - it becomes too much to navigate... less is more

I don't know about others, but in order to keep up with all the new posts, I just click on new posts and avoid the forum breakdown all together. Only when I go back looking for a good post do I use the main forum page. Personally I think it clutters things up a tad, but not to bad. Either way works imho.

I like the News forums breakdown-- but you could also do this by making NEWs a major heading, and have the subcategories underneath. So no subforums, but the same result.

AVSforum.com has a TON of forums-- too many, some would argue. But the site is fairly easy to get around, once you know what you're doing.

This site is far easier to navigate, but we don't have issues (yet) like threads with 168 pages!

I like the deal subcategory...I am not that computer savy, and it makes finding posts that I am interested in really easy. Overall, I think the whole site is really organized well. Great job on everything!

Yea, I'm probably going to be removing the subforums ... just not liking them and adding clutter. I'm a clean freak.

I actually like them too, but it looks like most people don't...I think the deal analysis would be a great section to look at for a "hot to" with properties and such.

I agree. I like them too, especially the "Deal Analysis". I use the new posts button 90% of the time anyway, so when I don't, I'm usually looking for something specific; that's when this extra organization would come in handy.
