It's nice to be here and finally write the first post after all this time. I read all three books, the first one The Millionaire Fastlane almost ten years ago. Wow, it's been ten years and I'm still on a slowlane. So, what finally lead me to write this introduction? I had an epiphany and will tell you about it in just a moment. Proper introductions are in order.
I'm a software developer from Croatia and moved to Germany four years ago. That was quite a big change for me in both a professional and personal sense. However, I still stayed on a slowlane and life played with me. Higher salary didn't translate into a better quality of life, at least it wasn't what I had expected.
I got sick after only 2-3 months on a new job and ended up in a hospital for a week. This repeated cca 6 months later. At that time I was not thinking about it, but it struck me a few days ago. Then the C0VlD-19 hit and nothing stayed the same in this world.
For the first time, I'm afraid because I don't have control over my life. I'm going with the flow by showing up each day at work (okay, it's remote so there's no commute). But all it takes is one event to derail and change my life. And I don't have a cushion at the moment - financially speaking.
Honestly, I feel broken, sad, and disappointed. I'm a software developer, but as life would have it, I don't stand that great financially. I don't drive Tesla, like some of my peers and that's okay (hey, they need to finance it too).
I've been talking fastlane for years, but haven't taken it seriously. Reading a book won't make you any more successful unless you put those teaching to work. That's what I'm trying to do no. It' long road ahead for me.
