This is as close as it gets to a step-by-step guide for anyone trying his luck with shopify/ordering from alibaba.
Awesome find!

I'm getting the feeling that number of extra services this guy used are not strictly necessary, and that this article is stuffed to the brim with affiliate links. Not that this devalues the basic content, which is pretty awesome.

What time did he wake up in the morning?
Who was he banking with?

Amazing post. Though I have no intentions currently of doing any importing business this post contains a wealth of information which can be applied elsewhere in different forms. Thanks for sharing!

exactly... it didn't seem like he was really trying ..he just threw this together in 5 weeks and quit.
As this was just a casestudy, I think the purpose was to show how "easy" it is to get your first sales within a couple of weeks from scratch.
They even raffled the business off afterwards, some young girl from Vancouver won it I think!

Just read that yesterday, I had seen the matcha one they did before and this one is even more detailed. Very good read. Makes me feel that "how come it looks so easy, I haven't got any sales yet!" kinda feeling but my experiment right now doesn't have the branding to start with, since the product isn't that good to start with. Comparing this I like how he came up with a different audience for an existing product and found a way of marketing it to a specific niche. I need to get more creative!

$344 of that was profit. Doesn't seem like much, but it is actually great for first month getting everything set up.

Find different groups and try to figure out how they can benefit from it .

Yea once you throw social networks ,fine tune advertising and build a good name for your self..it could make 30 times that...off some glasses lol..

Just shows you can sell almost anything if its done right..

This type of glasses has been marketed to gamers for at least 1-2 years, just search for 'Gunnar' on Amazon. So this is not about finding a different audience for an existing product, this is about execution. There are still tons of people within the existing audience that have never heard of established products like this. Reach them with a nice product and you will do very well for yourself.

It makes me wonder why the guys doing these case studies are still working at Shopify.

Thanks for sharing. I'm curious what some of the others think about this article. @Walter Hay @Vigilante etc.. donation coming ur way. Thanks again.
Hmmm... what does their opinion on this matter? It's a case study with step by step instructions. You don't need them to validate the idea. It's been proven via execution.

Who said anything about validation? I am simply curious about their thoughts about the article and process. The guy in the article did it one time. They've done it 100s of times. I respect their proven experience.
