This is my first post here and I want to share some lessons that I have learned through direct experience and also a bit about what I am currently working on.

I will split this into 3 parts so feel free to skip to whatever you are interested in:
  1. Create Luck out of Oppertunity when Pain creates Opportunity (spring always follows winter)
    1. spiritually
    2. professionally
  2. My current projects and habits
  3. Recommended reads
For context: I recently finished a Bachelor program, that has nothing to do with what I am currently invested in (the BTR is in Natural sciences and I am currently occupied in software engineering)

(1.1) Create Luck out of Oppertunity when Pain creates Opportunity (spiritually) - just to be clear here, this is explicitly about teachings that are based on exploring the self and realizing the teachings through direct experience
About 4 years ago, I had to let go of a (over a couple of years developed) obsession because it became clear that this obsession and the connected fantasies were delusional and unhealthy... this was a process and obviously did not happen overnight. What started as picking up self-work as an attempt to heal older wounds in an effort to make the obsession's fantasies come ture, later turned into self-work regarding the obsession itself.

I was at quite a bad place, but (I believe due to my intent of doing self-work) circumstances were in my favor and supported the endeavor. I was just arriving at a new city to start my studies (3h drive away from home) and really dove deep into self-work... it was hard at first, but I already felt lighter and lighter...
Have you ever heard that the outside is a reflection of the inside? Meaning that the outside world and experiences that you perceive as "happening to you" from the "outside world" and how you experience them are a direct reflection of your inner state... well I would say its true, not only logically (because there are no "outer" experiences, there is only subjectivity), but also I can say that for my own experience... and I was surprised about how drastically in a fairly short amount of time it can change. I turned from a miserable state, to experiencing astonishingly beautiful moments. I spend a lot of late night hours in the car driving somewhere no-one would hear me, just to cry my soul out from all the pain I had accumulated, not in a way of self-pitty, but in a way of leeting myself feel the things and digging deeper and deeper to the core of the emotion and letting it run its course... and damn it did a lot of work on me. I started feeling better every time and started to put myself out there and expose myself to the world... my outside experience changed drastically.

Just to paint you a picture, one of the most beautiful moments during that time period were on an early morning before dawn after partying. Getting off a Netsky show with one of my friends. we parted ways at the exit and I went to walk to my car. At some point I noticed that I got lost so I took out my phone and looked for the way back to my car, where google maps showed two possible routes -a longer one and a shorter one-. For some reason I chose the longer one and it lead me to walk across a university yard.
While walking, I noticed a girl singing to acoustics playing from a small box she brought somewhere (I think it was an Amy Winehouse song). She was sitting under a roofing, facing my way and must have been my age (20s).
Not wanting to make her uncomfortable I looked the other way walking by and saw a beautiful big needle tree that was standing there. I remember how magical that moment felt, the tree and the stars looked so beatiful, coupled with the sweet melody of the girl singing to herself. When I reached the end of the yard, I had the urge to share the beauty that I just experienced, so I went back and told her I thought her singing was beautiful in a casual way, ready to take of again right after I told her. We kept chatting for some reason and after some exchanges I asked her if I could sit next to her. She said yes and we spend some time talking and she showed me some songs I belive (honestly dont remember this part too well anymore). After some time she asked me if I would mind if she sings, I replied "not at all". So she put her tunes back on and started singing next to me while I was looking at the starts.... damn even thinking of that, I am so greatfull for that experience... there are some more experiences from that time that I rember as deeply impactfull... more so than righ now because I shifted my focus lol.

Anyway, what I wanted to say here is that any emotional hardship bares an oppertunity for spiritual growth and growing as a person, which will alter the way one percives reality and unlock the path to experiences one has not even dreamed of. And its possible in a drastic way in a surprisingly short amount of time if one takes that oppertunity and does the work.

(1.2) Create Luck out of Oppertunity when Pain creates Opportunity (professionally)
Around 2 years ago I faced financial frustration. Being a student I did not have a lot of money (my parents supported me and I did not have to take any loans ect, which I am greatfull for, but I still had some month left at the end of my money every now and then even tho I worked part time next to my studies). The money that I did have, I gambled on risky crypto investments and derivatives in hopes of hitting it big and multiplying my money because I did have plans of becoming rich. At one point I hit a deep loss once again but this time I was so fed up that I said "enough is enough... I need to change something and take charge of my own life and stop trying to get to fortune with just my fingers crossed". So I studied how you can make money, how you can get the mindset to make it inevitable...

when I figured out that I was in the wrong place with my bachelors program (natural sciences) in order to achive my goals, I started looking for fields that have better potential and taught myself programming and web-development. I watched and read a lot of Jim Rohn at the time and did a web-dev bootcamp that retrospectivly carried a lot of unscripted values, which was great! It made me join meetups, reach out to people in the space and connect with them and kept putting myself out there... and then this happened:
In one of the online meetups I attended they had a raffle: one ticked to JS-Nation (a Java Script Convention) and one year of Jet Brains for free (they make code editors (IDE's, actually))... and I won the JS-Nation ticket!
The convention was a 3h drive away from where I lived but of course I went anyway with the intention to continue my networking. I talked with a lot of people, while focusing to talking to people that actually carry decision power. Then there was one presentation from a company that is developing a peer-to-peer runtime for JavaScript and at the time I did not understand anything of what he was showing and presenting but the presenters conviction hit me deep, so I went up to the team after the presentation and started talking with them about their product. I was talking to someone else from the team and kept asking questions, at some point they said maybe Dave (the presenter) can answer that question better. So I started talking to him. He showed and explained me some stuff and then we talked about job oppertunities and he mentioned they have open positions. I joined their online community and noticed someone got accepted for an internship, so I wanted to apply too. Dave then texted me that he talked to the CEO and I should apply... they sent me a problem to solve and I got rejected because I was too inexperienced. lol ...So I spent the next half year getting familiar with their stack, also learning new things like react along the way while developing a desktop app with their technology (keep in mind that was all during my Bachelors Program).

After half a year I showed them my app. No test needed, they were impressed and my payed internship started... I learned a lot the following 3 months (meanwhile I also wrote my BTR). The internship was supposed to go 6 months, but they liked what I did so much that they wanted me as an actual software engineer after 3 months (one year after starting to learn web-dev and one and a half year after touching code for the first time (all during the bachelors program))... so right after I was done with the BTR I started taking more work form them and I learned a crazy amount of things the last 5 months...

Best thing is, the work there is value-based and 100% remote, which aligns perfectly with the more aggressive entrepreneurial jurney I started about 3 months ago.

The lesson here: Pain can spark oppertunity. When one takes the oppertunity and puts in the work and puts oneself out there, fate (or chance or whatever you wanna call it) has a way of opening doors for one.

(2) My current projects and habits
Projects:
  • Freelancing: mainly in cooperation with the company I mentioned in the previous section, but I also had another client a few months back, just to broaden my experiences and connections
  • RealPainPoints: this is my "own" project that started from a pain that I faced myself: figuring out what pains people actually have and want to be solved (realpainpoints.com)
Habits:
  • Weekly Records: tracking what I have done and setting goals for the comming week
  • Daily Reading: neglegted this one a bit the last two weeks
  • Daily Internalizing Goals: writing down affirmations and orally repeating my financial goal
  • Tracking Finanzes: google sheets chart of expenses and what the money was spent on
  • Documenting The Story: every now and then I update my current sittuation and what happened in a book

(3) Recommended Reads:
Books: -these are books not by MJ, because I dont feel like I need to recommend that in this forum... generally I do tho, I really like the ones I have listened to so far-
  • 7 Strategies for Wealth & Happiness - Jim Rohn ... this is amazing for goal setting, philosophy and mindset.
  • Think and Grow Rich - Napoleon Hill ... I was sceptic at first because I usually dont like books about getting rich if the author got rich only through the book, but this one is the OG book and it shows. a lot of great values and concepts that make sense on a deeper level. especially recomended for people that think with their gut and emotionally perceptive people.
  • How to win friends & influence People - Dale Carnegie ... great for networking
  • The day that turns your life around - Jim Rohn ... another great one for philosophy and mindset... really depens ones drive and motivation to success (also has a goal setting workshop included)
Spiritual Books:
  • Letting Go - The Pathway of Surrender - Dr. David R. Hawkins ... This one is great for active self work, it really walks you through it and its what I used in the first paraghraph. great book to resolve emotional blockages! (sometimes thats exactly what holds us back)
  • The Power of Now - Eckhart Tolle ... (I listend to it as a german audiobook) A lot of spirtual teachings that also translate really well into professional mindset and handleing any kind of circumstances.
  • Tao Te Ching - Lao Tzu ... This is a really small booklet with small teachings. great wisdom.

Alright, if you made it through, thanks for reading and I hope that you could extract some value from the information that I shared.
I will keep traking my progress and report on the forum, so feel free to tag along if you want!
