Hello everyone! My name is David. I am 29 years old as of today and wanted to share a bit about myself, as I feel I am in a transition point of my life right now and would love the input of like-minded individuals.
I've always known that there had to be more to life than picking a career path you can at best, tolerate, then work for 40 years if you're lucky and die. From age 20 I've set myself up for financial security, admittedly with some wrong decisions and bumps along the way. At this point in my life, I have a good paying job that frankly isn't all that demanding. It requires a lot of driving, but the car is company provided and it provides a lot of time to listen to audio books on the road. The job is also paying for me to get my MBA, so I don't mind that there is a time trade off there. My undergraduate degree is in computer science, but honestly, I did not take it too seriously and would likely have to re-study coding to be able to do it again. With all of this said, my current financial situation is as follows.
No credit card debt
No student loan debt
No car payment
No mortgage (bought my townhome with cash)
I do not owe a cent to anyone on this earth. While I understand this is a great spot to be in, I never considered what would come next, as so much of the time I never thought I would get to this point, yet here I am. None of this is to flex, but to get differing opinions. If you were in the position I am currently in, what would your next steps be? Between inventing, starting a business, real estate, or any other modes of fast lane wealth building, I have no real passion for any of it. My passion solely lies in putting all of my physical and mental energy into making something, selling it for a lump sum and retiring. Currently have about 30k saved and make a salary of 80k a year. At what point would you say it becomes necessary to quit the job fully and dive headfirst into my business?
I want to disclaim that I am not asking anyone to do the work for me, but rather for suggestions on paths I can take from here. I will study, master, and execute any skill, service, or business needed to reach my goals of permanent retirement. The dilemma is I have no idea where to begin. I have the time to read 2-3 audio books a week, easily, so I know I'll want to start reading more and learning as much as I can during my working hours. Anyway, thanks everyone for listening and I have hopes that everyone of your dreams will come true. Cheers.
