For the last couple months I've been learning about websites, different types of ebusinesses, and so on. This is a never ending hole. To be current and efficiently implement up to date tactics, this is a constant process.
For some reason, I had the misconception that there was a plateau somewhere (a good stopping point for general learning and taking action). There isn't. I should have been implementing all along, instead of focusing on what I didn't know and worrying about how it may hold me back.
I felt as if I'd be chasing my tail for a while if I didn't get the basics of EVERYTHING. This is stupid. Everything is a large word, in many senses, and you wind up getting lost in learning and NEVER DOING! Pointless.:smx4:
In light of this, I've decided to take one of my many domains that I had an idea for and write a formal business plan and hire a programmer if it makes sense to do so.
To shift from my "learning only phase" and start focusing on action, I've picked out a domain and am coming up with a simple plan to get the juices flowing again.
One option is for LaborAid.com. LaborAid.com will offer you live updated labor services, free of charge (temp agency in a sense, but not). Differentiated by region and category, at any time you can log into our database and view potential candidates for availability. Rates and reservation services are all available online.
Originally, I was thinking to link all the temp agencies availability listings in a given area together, and form one location (on the web) for businesses to view and select services from.
I see a few initial issues with this approach, most importantly being able to enforce credibility and accountability.
To 'niche it', I was thinking of catering to the construction industry for the most part, but the subdivisions are endless. I'm confused on whether to focus on b2b or c2b. There are so many ways to approach this and many ways to implement a service like this.
My initial reasoning for purchasing this domain, was to offer a contracting/handyman directory and appointment scheduling for homeowners. I thought they could establish a rep/review system by rating their service. I used to be heavily involved in the contruction/pro audio/home theater world. In all instances, whether residential or commercial, quality contractors of any sort were difficult to come by. I saw this day in and day out, and was thinking of a way to establish a more 'informed' database for selection.
I didn't do my DD until after, and found a few services like that, such as ServiceMagic. Not that there's no room for competition, but I was shooting for something unique. I think not being unique in this arena, it would be competing with Craigslist, CareerBuilder, etc..
Thoughts anyone? Do more DD and put effort into it or move on to my next idea? Thanks!
