Wanted to share my Fastlane success with you all.
This is also an IDEA VALIDATION POST & PROGRESS THREAD
I created a product a while back that did well. It was a simple
product that would prevent that nasty ring around the collar on your shirt.
You know the one that you mother, wife, mistress, REAALLLY hates?
Yea that one.
I found a manufacturer on Alibaba.com who could create the product to my liking.
They did. I created a website and put it up. Did some blog posts and I got my first sale a the next day.
I call this "Entrepreneurial Orgasm". That sensation you get from creating a product that someone actually wants to spend money on.
So I jumped on reddit and did a post... People gave me a ton of congrats.
One guy messaged me and said why don't you write a blog post about it. So I did. That post went crazy. So I had the idea to create course on how to import. I created a simple landing page and asked people in a bunch of popular forums if people would benefit from a course on importing from China.
I got 1200 sign up in 3 days. Awesome. I found a pain and could provide a solution. So I started interviewing people, created an ebook, and put an entire membership site together. http://importcrashcourse.com/
The course has been taken now by more than 800 people. I have it automated on facebook with ads and it is doing well.
So I am on to create another course with the same process.

I am going to create a new course on how to Create Wordpress Membership Sites.

Better to take 3 days and validate than create for 3 months and realize you have wasted your time
The goal is to create a simple course that solves a problem a lot of people have. The course will be video based (I dislike writing ebooks & my girlfriend started to hate me because I made her proof read & edit the last ebook :-D ).
I will keep this thread up as a progress thread and answer any question. Detailed progress will happen on my blog.
My inspiration came after getting the learn to code bundle and ruby on rails courses. I wanted to learn how to code and they teach me just that. No extra fluff or promise I will make a million dollars.
I don't want to show people how to make money online. I'd rather help them complete a certain task. I dislike the guru talk.
Teach a tangible skill
So I think courses I create that teach a skill will be more widely accepted because there is no false hope or promise you will make millions. If I should you the process of creating membership sites and give you examples of successful sites, you can put forth the effort to create some awesome (if you want to).
Why Self Publish? Can't you just Google That Stuff?
I think cutting out the middle man makes a lot of sense. You shouldn't go through a middle man if you know where you audience is. If you have the distribution then you should self publish.
I know a lot of people will say "But you can google that". True but you can google how to code. Why do you pay for a course? You pay for the structure, the privacy, and the ability to reach out to someone who can help you.
Shout out to MJ and the other awesome contributors on the forum. Appreciate the inspiration and time your guys take to share quality info. #bangbang
