Hello Fastlane,

My name is James and I'm from the United Kingdom, I'm currently studying in college, which over here is the place you study before you attend University.

I'm a mathematical guy and do program (currently know alot of HTML, CSS, Java, PHP, C++ and learning Python and Ruby(on rails).

I'm not an education kind of guy, I don't particularly agree or support the education system and believe it just leads and learns you into a world where you have to work for a company and employer.

I'm just in a stuck situation, I want to get out there and start a project, be the CEO of a startup and be someone. But I've got the question millions of people ask, where do I start?!?! What business do I start with? How do I start one?? Getting customers? There's so many questions running through my head currently on what to do in the future, it's stressful.

Anyway rant over and hopefully some of you guys could help me, would really appreciate it.

It's a pleasure to be accepted into the Fastlane community.

Regards,
James

Hope to see you all around.

Welcome to the forum. If you haven't read The Millionaire Fastlane yet it's a good place to start and should help lay some of the framework that you're looking for. There is no 3 step guide to starting a business that somebody else can hand you. In the most basic sense the idea is to find a problem, need, or want and provide value and solutions that people are willing to pay for. Play on your strengths to start, maybe freelance coding or web design would be a good way to get your feet wet while in school. The most important thing is to put yourself out there and start trying something. Check out some of the progress and AMA threads on here for a little more insight into the process.

I'm sort of in the same boat mate, I don't like the education system but try my best to get through! I currently do freelance design work and make some decent money from it and it has grown nicely over the past year. I think freelancing is a great place to start especially as you have skills in coding. You could eventually go on to start a software dev company or a web development company!

Just my two cents :)

James
