There's a movie called Threads which describes what would happen if Sheffield was nuked during the Cold War. It's very depressing. There's also Nukemap but it's currently under heavy load; interactive map showing effect of Nukes anywhere in the world, including radiation spread.

So everyone is preoccupied with Ukraine, whilst this is happening in the USA A National Vaccine Pass Has Quietly Rolled Out – And Red States Are Getting On Board
Wasn’t USA 50 years ahead of the rest of the world?

Most countries are dropping them.

One of the many failures of the pandemic’s response.
They used the same app throughout the world yet “major implementations” were needed to make passes recognisable internationally.

The app could’ve been put together by a 16 year old with a drag and drop solution.

They figured the Green Pass aka QR CODE should become invalid for the week you have covid so you couldn’t go to places where it was required.

Their method of doing so? Simple : the qr code disappears from the app. No code, no green pass, no access. Funny enough, if you had a picture of your qr code it was still valid.

someone from my family that had a green pass got covid on 1st of February. On the 10th of February, her green pass was revoked. Needless to say, she was negative by then.

A total joke.

Following recent events, I remembered a relatively obscure short story by Robert Heinlein: Solution Unsatisfactory
Written in 1941.

OMG, looks like MLB might be locked out this season and there will be no games!

In other news just as important, my neighbor has a few horses and their manure attracts a lot of shit flies.

:eek::eek::eek:

how many fries are we talking about here?

For anyone with higher than normal blood pressure levels:

Getting rid of coffee, and introducing 3 tablespoons of flaxseed to my diet daily has me back within the normal range.
Since I introduced the flaxseed, it has taken it down by ten.
Amazing.

When I make smoothies I always add a scoop of either flax or hemp seed to it. Plus a bunch of frozen spinach! I had no idea flax would help with blood pressure but that is pretty cool.

Does anyone know what happened to sparechange?

This dude was in every single thread and one day he just disappeared from the forum. I remember he complained about being sent death threats and shit for his Nightcrawler-esque lifestyle.

I've officially migrated my domains away from Siteground to Namecheap.com. The difference is $18 per year per domain down to around $8 per year (and no upcharge for domain privacy!). I'm still using Siteground for hosting for now, but will look into moving my hosting as well. Siteground's business practices have turned to total shit over the last several years and I'm sick of it. Time to make good on my threats of leaving.

Anti-capitalism is flooding TikTok as young people question a life that prioritizes productivity over well-being

"When you live in a capitalist society, no matter what you do, it's never enough," Jeff Guenther, a therapist, said in one of his many TikTok videos analyzing the link between work and self-worth. "Under capitalism, you derive value by doing something, not by just being human."
Well, you need to do more than simply be born & exist to add value to the world. You think if you lived with the Kalahari bushmen they'd be OK with feeding, clothing, and sheltering (not to mention finding water for) you if you laid around and did nothing "just being human"? Pretty sure they'd kick your a$$ out and let nature help you figure out what your "sense of self-worth" is.

Love how these people are probably filming & posting these videos from their $1000 smartphones that evil capitalism produced. :clench:

Yea, I've been doing the same, just moved a bunch of domains from GoDaddy to Namecheap. Have another dozen or so to move.

Not really worth a new thread, but worth a mention...

In the MOST LIKED POSTS subsection (Hot Posts on Fastlane (Most Reactive)) I had to delete "OFF TOPIC" threads from being included, the Ukraine discussion was dominating the results. To get things more business related, the OFF TOPIC forum was removed -- this should only be temporary assuming things normalize at some point. Right now it is a hot discussion here and rightfully so, but it shouldn't dominate the forum.

So I just signed up for a gym membership today. 450 pesos for one month. Closed windows and doors and AC. All the other gyms I checked out are open, and therefore will have mosquitoes. Bugs don't bug the locals, but they go straight for me and my kids. Even in Canada among all my friends I'm the one who gets bit the most. Working out in that? No thanks!

The equipment is a bit old, and not a great selection of dumbbells which is pretty much all I use, but it's enough if I can figure out when the gym is quiet. And the best part? Not a mask in sight!!!! The employees don't even wear them! It's incredibly refreshing.

I am excited to get back into serious shape. The last time I was on a good schedule was sometime around October of last year. For reference we were getting ready to leave at that time, and finally left for Mexico around the 20th of November.

Why not just buy some dumbbells then and exercise at home whenever you want?

I'm definitely not objective here though as I have a deep disdain for gyms and have always worked out in my basement or outside.

That is what I have back in Canada. There is literally no space for such a thing in Mexico right now. One day I would like that, but that won't be until I have a proper setup here.

Lol, you’ll never be able to quit the gym now.

They will probate your estate one day.

In USA or Canada. I literally just gave them my name and some cash and they wrote my name down in pencil on a piece of paper and said I have one month. That's how it should be done. I didn't even sign a waiver or anything lol.

Yesterday I got my BJJ blue belt. Given I started 3 and a half years ago, you may think I've been pretty slow, especially being dedicated (on average it takes something like a year and a half to get to the blue belt). But here is what happened along the way:
  • I've been out several times for around 9 months total (back and wrist injury)
  • They closed our gym, to keep us safe of course, tried to lock us down, and my teacher went to the military which means the academy disappeared (I live in a small town where no one knows what BJJ is and he was the only one teaching it)
  • A small group of us managed to keep training, for almost a year, in one of the guy's basement, one thankfully being a soon-to-be-black brown belt.
  • We are now back to a real gym with a healthy number of people and the academy exists again.
I take this as another good lesson that applies to life and business: have a plan, but know there will be bumps along the way. Persevere, find a way, focus on the process, and you'll eventually make it.

It is only the beginning.

Have a great day everyone.

Man now you got me watching compilation videos of Stevie wonder being able to see.

FU. And good bye.
