First off, if you haven't seen it, you really need to. (I've seen it twice already.. going again next weekend ha)

All I can say is, I was blind, but now I see :hurray:

In the movie, Bradley Cooper's character joins a trading firm of some kind. He puts up $100,000 of his own cash and he gets 2.5x that in return to trade with.

Is this the typical setup of a prop trading firm, or is this something else entirely? Because I worked briefly at a firm, and I put none of my capital into it and they supplied the entire amount.

If it is a prop trading firm (in the movie), how are profits shared? Do you simply pay the interest on the loan, or do you have to give them a percentage of your profit, seeing as you do your trades using their software?

I'm intrigued.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.
