My dad's company installs cable, but everything is kept in the books. Sometimes we go back to the same site twice having already installed there before.

We're looking for a better way to keep track of sites we've already installed at, preferably using a software of sorts.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Field Wire actually I think. A lot of big companies use ProCore if you have enterprise level needs.

What about Trello?

It's free, he can share it with his team, and easily gets the job done.

Here's an example of how it's used for a tech company, but you could easily use it in the same way: Trello

I was thinking about something with like a map feature, where you put in an address, and it shows if you've installed at that site already.

Are you installing in residential or commercial sites? Do you install off design plans?

Your best bet would to be use AutoCAD to create "as constructed" drawings showing what you have installed on each project, then creating a folder number/name system on your work PC. Only problem is that Autocad licenses are quite expensive and you would need an Autocad file of the project.

If you can get a PDF plan of the project, then there is a good program called Bluebeam Revu - Revu, Digital Workflow Solution | Bluebeam, Inc.(no affiliation). You can markup basic plans to show your install work, then you could file them on your work PC and refer to when needed.

wow what a great app idea. oh man...

edit:
shit it's been done of course.
here you go:
Map Marker - Android Apps on Google Play

u can put custom map markers on a map and save it. So now u can put in an address like you want and see if you did work there already.
