Just starting a progress thread so that I can write out what I achieve everyday, get advice and stay on task.

Today's goals -
- Finish 3D modelling of my first prototype
- Find and research 3D printing services near me
- Work on improving my designs

So yesterday I finished designing my product (for now) and have decided that its time to take some real action in getting it to the market.

Today I'm going to:
- Make simple models of my product our of foam and cardboard to look for possible improvements
- Make a list of all the places I can find manufacturers in my niche
- Continue research on how manufacturers operate and how I can get one to make my product.

If anyone knows any good threads on the process of taking your product to a manufacturer and getting it made please link me. Thanks.

I don't know how things are in Australia but here you can go to a lot of 2 year colleges or "Maker Space" and 3-D print a prototype in the US.

If you want to build say 20 to sample the market once you are happy with a prototype (and the part is on the small side) then you can do some simple injection molding building a mold from a material such as silicone. There is a product for injection molding that works like two stage epoxy, but I can't for the life of me remember who makes it.

This is a resource you may find useful: Prototyping & Inventing Tutorials

Thanks so much thats really helpful. We have places like that in Australia too but they aren't very common.

I just had a look into that two stage epoxy and that looks like it might do the trick!
