I dont know if many of you watches porn or not. But i found this will browsing the ted library

Basically porn our brain released alot of dopamine from watching porn and since we have as much porn as we want our body will get used to this level of dopamine and the further this goes our body wants more dopamine which will lead to more extreme porn.

Leaving us with many cons! Many guys even got ED from watching porn.

Just thought i shared it. Maybe it can help someone!

I've seen this before and I hate how he offers 0 evidence. He just says "I stopped and I felt better... a lot of people on my niche site agree with me," ignoring the fact that if they don't agree with him, they probably aren't browsing his site.

I agree that porn is damaging to the viewer, but the fact that this guy doesn't cite anything other than anecdotal evidence makes my inner scientist cringe.

Look how many views it has. I wonder how many of the 3.7 million who watched it, gave up the addiction. Probably not many. And I don't know the usage statistics, but probably porn use is on the rise.

Anyway, wanna know what's even more scary? It's that this addiction will get even worse.

Yep. It's coming.

In 3D.

That will be the end of monogamy. Most men will not reproduce. Porn will be the substitute for women. And good-looking males will have all the women and be parents of all the children. Maybe that's the plan of the elite to weed out weak genes.

Who knows...

Or maybe islam will take over the world. They will ban it for sure.

Hmm...think that's already happening. And think Hitler already tried the weak genes.

Nope. Once you've tasted bluejeans, booze, and porn, your society doesn't give that up. :) (Short periods of prohibition notwithstanding)

So much of this argument seems based off of "it's a chemical reaction", and that's why I don't buy it. Because everything in the human body is a chemical reaction. Don't get me wrong, I think there are your "real" addictions. Think hard drugs.

But then there are your "self control" addictions. This is where sex addictions, tobacco, alcohol, porn, unhealthy food, gambling, etc. come in. The thing is, I don't really think any of these are real. I think there are people out there with weak willpower who don't follow the "everything in moderation" mantra. And I think it's easier for society to put the blame on these external "vices" rather than accepting the fact that some people simply cannot control themselves.

If you are to the point where porn is ruining your relationships or taking up notable chunks of your time, then you have a F*cking problem. But I think acting like NEVER watching porn will give you some sort of competitive advantage is complete BS. Occasionally having a cigar or a Big Mac or a drink or a night at a casino isn't going to kill you, and neither is occasionally watching porn. Like anything else, it's when it becomes a consistent habit.

Yep true, just saying "it is damaging" is of no help whatsoever to someone who is already hooked in porn. It's just like saying to a smoker that "smoke kills", he will still continue to smoke until death because it is not a conscious decision but rather an unconscious, habitual and emotional need being met.

Most people intuitively know what is good and what is bad for them but rationalizations prevent them to change.

When people have an unconscious or emotional need, their brain will rationalize and fool them to "do it only once" and then again and again and at some point it just feels more comfortable to continue watching porn than to go out, to smoke than to resist smoking, to sleep than to stay awake worrying about your fears or take any action to change things.

You can't change an old habit 180 degree right away, you take progressive steps so your (unconscious, habitual) brain won't resist the change as much.

I have been a regular porn watcher at some point in my life and it feels bad and it is embarrassing of course. But none of these "helpful videos" actually was helpful. I got over it by making small changes. For example when my old habit of watching porn would kick in, I would go and watch "hot videos" on youtube instead, or watch "hot images" that are not porn but meet the brain's habitual need to some extent. After doing this for a few weeks, the old habit of porn-need starts to loose its meaning and significance. It no longer affects emotionally as much as to trigger rationalization after rationalization.

Addictions are mostly an indication that this individual had certain problems earlier in his life that resulted in certain self-defeating behaviors. People who are addicted or emotionally vulnerable to something usually feel confused and powerless to change and they desperately look for a "quick fix". We find a similar pattern with "making money online" button click millionaire thing, the most vulnerable people who often fall victim to it are those who have no money and need an easy way to release.

Reading the book "Toxic parents" will give you a very detailed and realistic understanding of these patterns.

Who are you to tell someone else what they should or should not do with their time? Anything that a person spends a fair bit of time doing could be substituted with another activity. So what.

People throw around the word 'addicted' so loosely. Aren't we then by definition addicted to making money, considering we created a forum to spend a lot of time on and talk about how to make more money? We could have been exercising, or finding better treatments for diseases, or helping the impoverished in third world countries. So what? Aren't we addicts then?

The word doesn't mean anything. People spend the most time on their priorities. I'm not talking about porn, but the general idea that one 'could have been doing something else that supposedly has more value to one's life.'

It is entirely subjective.

Islam will never take over the world, don't even go there.

I consider someone addicted when they do something 11 to 18 hours a day every day for a long period of time. Excessively. Also, if it interfere's with everything in their life. Not functional.

For people like us they usually say we are addicted, and also workaholics. In other words you could say bypassing your real emotions and feelings. I just figure we're focused on something and we enjoy it, take pleasure in it by choice, or we don't.

This makes sense.

Do people really spend 11+ hrs a day watching porn then? I imagine it's such a small subset (like REALLY small) percentage of the population.

What I'm getting at is that for those (mostly males) that watch porn (which is at one time basically ALL), it's not that big of a deal.

I used to know two guys that are very addicted and yes they do surround themselves with not just porn, but sex stuff. Exactly why I don't associate with them, because it's kind of gross. I don't believe everyone's like this, but I do know some people do become consumed with it where that is all they want to talk about, think about, and everything is associated with sex.

Hi, My name is GrumpyCat, and I am a Youtube addict.

These are my stats from the last couple of days.

(serious) anyone have tips on how to limit youtube watching youtube videos? It's not affecting my life or anything lol, but I do find myself procrastinating sometimes.

Fastlane doesn't track, otherwise it'd be between youtube and reddit on the chart.

i didnt tell anyone what to do with there time, it was a tips that if you spend to much time watching porn maybe there is something better to do. If you want to watch porn all day go ahead i dont care. But maybe there are people out there feeling that they are spending to much time watching porn.

And when i say addicted im not only talking about how much time your spending watching it. But if your having problems getting attracted to normal girls, or stop hit on girls cause you always have your porn at home. If you cant get it up and so on can continue the whole day i guess you are experiencing some negative things because of porn.

That wasn't meant to be taken seriously.

But I can see you are from the UK. Did I hit a nerve? :)

All jokes aside, I don't care about religion. It's an artificial thing. I hope it becomes a thing of the past.

I got over it by making small changes.

I actually dropped it cold turkey.

before we could masturbate to only the imagination and now we need some sick shit to get off! This is really something to look into. Some even say watching porn makes you tired and you loose alot of energy since your body gets drained on dopamine. I have never felt this but maybe something to look into if your feeling tired often

I found an article while procrastinating college exams that may explain the increased usage of porn. I'm going to get off-track somewhat but please stay with me because it all ties together and makes sense.

Back in the 50's an American ethologist John Calhoun created a 'Mouse Utopia' experiment to study social animals that reproduced rapidly. The study was done to see what happens to social creatures when given unlimited resources. In all 3 experiments the mice began to die off due to violence, becoming sterile and many of the "runt" male mice left the society all together- by going nocturnal and avoiding the colony. They began tying in these results to densely populated countries such as Japan, where people are slowly becoming sterile and many young men lost sexual interest in women all together!

I'm going to attach the link below, it's a lengthy read but I encourage everyone to at least skim it. I hope the results from this experiment aren't the case for the human race, or else we are in trouble...

Give up porn ...?

Hell ... to the No!

Why on Earth would I want to do that ...?

Money is all fine and good ... but wild sex and getting laid ... is the ultimate endgame.

Well ... at least it is to me.

What you call porn ... I call a "to do list"

Don't get me wrong ... I like Shark Tank as much as the next guy here ... but given a choice between watching Mr. Wonderful dicker over a royalty ... or Tori Black in an airtight gangbang ... I know whats playing on my set.

Plus ... watching porn with your woman ... is like money in the bank. Just play something she likes ... and when her hips start moving ... finish your drink and cash your check!

I think porn is great.

We both do.
